Trymant III

Trymant III was a satellite, specifically a moon, orbiting the planet known as Trymant IV. This world existed within the Outer Rim and the Western Reaches territories of the galaxy. Back in 232 BBY, the moon met its end, being destroyed by a phenomenon known as an Emergence. These Emergences consisted of hyperspace fragments originating from the Legacy Run freighter due to the Great Hyperspace Disaster. By 3 ABY, during the Imperial Era, information regarding the obliteration of Trymant IV's moons, including Trymant III, could be found in select databases.

Description

The planet Trymant IV, which itself orbited the Trymant system's binary star in the Outer Rim, possessed Trymant III as one of its moon. Being a moon within the Trymant system, Trymant III's location placed it in the Western Reaches region, specifically at coordinates L-20 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Praknat 3, another moon of Trymant IV, maintained the closest orbital path compared to the planet's remaining moons, which included Trymant III.

History

The Trymant system Emergence, which destroyed Trymant III

During the era of the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a portion of the Outer Rim, encompassing Trymant IV and its moons, as the Galactic Frontier. These areas were considered sufficiently remote from the core of the galaxy to warrant the deployment of explorers. In the year 232 BBY, the Great Hyperspace Disaster triggered the emergence of Emergences, which were fragments of hyperspace debris originating from the destroyed Legacy Run freighter. These fragments began appearing in space and colliding with celestial bodies across the galaxy. Mari San Tekka, a hyperspace savant held captive by the Nihil marauders, foresaw that one such Emergence would soon threaten several locations within the Trymant system, including Trymant III. This information was relayed by Doctor Kisma Uttersond to Marchion Ro, the leader of the Nihil, which motivated Ro to travel to the Trymant system in advance of the event.

Ultimately, an Emergence impacted and obliterated Trymant III. The Jedi Order maintained records of the system's catastrophe. By the time the Galactic Empire held reign, information about the Trymant system disaster remained accessible through specific databases. By 3 ABY, Parazeen Parapa, an intern journalist, examined the event's records. During an interview with bounty hunters Zuckuss and 4-LOM, he discovered the destruction of Trymant IV's moons. Parapa included his findings in an article for the Galactic Digest magazine. TK-7, the Chief Editor Droid of the Culture Desk at the publication, later reviewed and annotated the article.

Behind the scenes

The first mention and identification of Trymant III occurred in "Tales of Villainy: The Gaze Electric," a supplementary comic story featured in the sixth issue of the 2020 Star Wars Adventures anthology comic series. Daniel José Older wrote the story, and IDW Publishing published the comic issue on July 7, 2021. Older verified on Twitter that Trymant III was among the several Trymant IV moons mentioned indirectly in his short story, "STET!." This story, released in 2020 within the From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back anthology, retroactively established "STET!" as the first indirect reference to Trymant III.
