Praknat 3, orbiting Trymant IV, a planet situated within both the Outer Rim Territories and the Western Reaches, was its nearest moon. This diminutive and deserted satellite resided within the Trymant system. During the Emergences that characterized the Great Hyperspace Disaster in 232 BBY, a piece of hull originating from the freighter known as Legacy Run collided with Praknat 3. This impact destabilized the entire star system, triggering an environmental catastrophe on Trymant IV. The planet's orbit shifted closer to its second sun, leading to rapid desertification.
Praknat 3 was the closest of several moons to the planet Trymant IV, which also included Korbatal, Ost Molkar, Taz Molkar, and Trymant III. Trymant IV itself orbited the binary star at the heart of the Trymant system. This small, uninhabited moon, Praknat 3, existed within the Outer Rim Territories and Western Reaches regions of the galaxy, specifically located in square L-20 of the Standard Galactic Grid, just like the rest of the star system.

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a portion of the Outer Rim, encompassing Trymant IV and its moons, as the Galactic Frontier. These areas were deemed remote enough to warrant sending explorers. In 232 BBY, during an Emergence related to the Great Hyperspace Disaster within the Trymant system, a fragment from the main hull of the freighter Legacy Run struck Praknat 3. This impact disrupted the gravitational equilibrium of the entire star system and obliterated its moons. As a consequence of the collision with Praknat 3, Trymant IV was pulled closer to the system's second sun, resulting in an environmental disaster where all surface water evaporated, transforming the planet into a desert. The Jedi Order archived records pertaining to the Trymant IV disaster following the event.
In 231 BBY, Zeen Mrala, a former inhabitant of Trymant IV, was dismayed by the destruction when she returned to the planet months after the disaster alongside Jedi Master Kantam Sy and Jedi Padawan Lula Talisola. After analyzing data on their cruiser, the Star Hopper, Sy discovered the impact on Praknat 3 and its subsequent effects, which he shared with Mrala and Talisola.
Praknat 3 received a mention in the 2021 young adult novel The High Republic: Race to Crashpoint Tower, penned by Daniel José Older as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.
