Trymant system's second sun

The Trymant system's planet, Trymant IV, along with its collection of moons, orbited a binary star located in the Outer Rim's. One of the two stars comprising this binary system was known as the second sun. During the Great Hyperspace Disaster, an Emergence occurred within this system in 232 BBY. A fragment originating from the main hull of the freighter named Legacy Run collided with Praknat 3, the moon nearest to Trymant IV. This impact disrupted the gravitational equilibrium of the entire system, causing Trymant IV to shift closer to the second sun. Consequently, all water sources above ground evaporated, transforming the planet into a desert.

Description

Situated in the Outer Rim Territories and Western Reaches, specifically at coordinates L-20 on the Standard Galactic Grid, was the Trymant system, which had a binary star at its center. The planet Trymant IV and its moons, including Praknat 3, Ost Molkar, Taz Molkar, and Trymant III, were in orbit around the two stars, with the second sun being one of the star's components.

History

Kantam Sy (center) told Zeen Mrala and Lula Talisola (left and right) how Praknat 3's collision with the second sun had affected Trymant IV.

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a region of the Outer Rim as the Galactic Frontier, which encompassed Trymant IV and its suns. This area was considered remote enough for the Republic to dispatch explorers. In 232 BBY, an Emergence of the Great Hyperspace Disaster struck the Trymant system. A piece of the main hull of the freighter Legacy Run impacted Praknat 3, resulting in a disruption of the star system's gravitational stability and the destruction of its moons. This collision caused Trymant IV to be pulled closer to the second sun, leading to a catastrophic event where all aboveground water evaporated, turning the planet into a desert. The Jedi Order kept records of the Trymant IV disaster after it happened.

Zeen Mrala, a former inhabitant of Trymant IV, returned to her home world with Jedi Master Kantam Sy and Jedi Padawan Lula Talisola in 231 BBY, months following the disaster, and was horrified by the destruction. Sy discovered the impact on Praknat 3 and its consequences by analyzing data on their cruiser, the Star Hopper, noting its altered path toward the system's second sun. Subsequently, Sy explained the events to Mrala and Talisola.

Behind the scenes

This sun was referenced in Daniel José Older's 2021 junior novel, The High Republic: Race to Crashpoint Tower, which was part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
