V0-RK was a Viper probe droid in service to the Galactic Empire. It participated in the endeavor to pinpoint the hidden location of the Rebel Alliance following the Yavin battle during the Galactic Civil War. This imperial droid journeyed to and scrutinized sections of the satellite Jedha, but it was unsuccessful in its mission to find the base there.
By 34 ABY, this particular automaton had crash-landed on the world of Batuu. There, its salvaged components were put on display on a wall located in the Service Yard, situated just outside the Droid Depot within Black Spire Outpost. A traveler named Dyyl requested assistance from a visitor to Black Spire Outpost in locating the droid and extracting a celestial map from it. This map was needed to aid him in navigating his way to the planet Bespin.

Arakyd Industries manufactured the Viper probe droid known as V0-RK. It operated under the Galactic Empire during its rule, serving in deep-space explorations and reconnaissance missions. During the Galactic Civil War, it was among the many probe droids deployed by the Empire in hyperspace pods. These droids were tasked with scouring the galaxy to locate the command center of the Alliance to Restore the Republic as part of Project Swarm following the Battle of Yavin.
V0-RK was dispatched to the moon Jedha, where it initiated patrol mode while analyzing potential locations for the base. The android archived an image analysis of a group of travelers on Jedha, including the engineer Gavra Ubrento and a member of the Disciples of the Whills. Ultimately, the base's location was discovered by another probe droid on the planet Hoth in 3 ABY.

V0-RK subsequently traveled to the planet Batuu, where local inhabitants of Batuu captured it after it collided with a rock face along a path near the Droid Depot on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. During the First Order's seizure of Batuu in 34 ABY, damaged pieces of the probe droid were put on display in the Service Yard of the Droid Depot, awaiting repair. V0-RK's head was separated from its body, with both components suspended in netting above the depot's droid repair station.
During the occupation, the person Dyyl put out a request for assistance in finding a galactic chart within Black Spire Outpost, as he needed to journey to the planet Bespin, but his guidance system was malfunctioning. Upon a visitor to the outpost responding to the request, Dyyl instructed the individual to locate V0-RK, believing the droid to be carrying the heavenly body chart he required. The visitor successfully retrieved a map from V0-RK depicting a section of the galaxy's Western Reaches and subsequently transmitted it to Dyyl via electronic device in exchange for 150 credits.
V0-RK's height was 1.6 meters (5 feet and 3 inches), and it featured grey plating along with black optical sensors. It was fitted with five manipulator appendages, a weapon, and a communication device.
V0-RK made its debut as a physical prop within the themed area Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. This area was unveiled to visitors at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019. Concurrently, the droid was featured in the Star Wars: Datapad application, which was launched alongside the themed land. The prominent crater marking V0-RK's supposed landing site on Batuu is present exclusively at Disney's Hollywood Studios, not at Disneyland.
