Star Wars: Visions
Star Wars: Visions is an anthology series of animated short films that are not considered part of the official canon. The first installment featured nine original short films inspired by anime from various studios in Japan, offering a culturally diverse take on Star Wars. It was first available on the streaming platform Disney+ on September 22, 2021. The novelization titled Ronin is connected to the short film "The Duel." Each Visions short has an accompanying behind-the-scenes feature called Star Wars: Visions Filmmaker Focus that explores its creation. On May 29, 2022, it was announced that a second volume of Star Wars: Visions would be released, expanding its scope to include animation studios from across the globe. This second volume premiered on May 4, 2023. Then, on November 19, 2024, the announcement of a third volume of Star Wars: Visions was made, with a planned release in 2025. Volume 3 will refocus on the anime style, featuring four returning animation studios and introducing five new ones.
Official description

Star Wars: Visions presents entirely new and imaginative interpretations of the galaxy far, far away. This series of animated shorts celebrates Star Wars through the unique perspective of top anime creators worldwide. This anthology collection showcases incredible visions from leading Japanese anime studios, providing a novel and diverse cultural lens through which to view Star Wars._
Continuity
Lucasfilm granted the storytellers maximum creative latitude when developing their Visions shorts, allowing them to deviate from the established Star Wars timeline. Matt Martin from the Lucasfilm Story Group has stated that this means none of the shorts are considered canon. While it's possible that some shorts, like "Tatooine Rhapsody", could theoretically align with canon, no official source has yet integrated any Visions story into the official Star Wars timeline.
