Gera's lightsaber

The Jedi Knight Dagan Gera wielded a split lightsaber with a yellow blade during the High Republic Era; this lightsaber was known as Gera's lightsaber. After being freed from his stasis in 9 BBY during the Imperial Era, Gera bled the kyber crystal, resulting in the blade turning red.

Following Gera's demise at the hands of both Cal Kestis and Bode Akuna, Akuna secretly took possession of one of the lightsaber blades and carried it as his own weapon after his betrayal of Kestis.

Description

This weapon, crafted by the well-known Jedi Knight Dagan Gera, featured a hilt design that was elaborately decorated, typical of the time it was made, and it originally had yellow blades during Gera's time as a Jedi. However, during the Imperial Era, Gera corrupted the crystal, which caused the lightsaber blades to become a deep crimson color.

The lightsaber was a split saber that could be used in both single and double-bladed configurations.

History

High Republic Era

At the height of the High Republic Era, a period of prosperity for both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic, Dagan Gera constructed his lightsaber. He once fought the Gen'Dai warrior Rayvis in one-on-one combat, defeating him and becoming the only warrior to ever achieve this feat at the time.

During the Nihil invasion of Tanalorr, Gera used the blade while leading the Jedi's defense of the planet. After the Jedi Council gave the order to abandon Tanalorr, Gera, in a fit of rage, used his lightsaber to murder several of his fellow Jedi.

After Santari Khri critically injured Gera and severed his right arm in an altercation, she placed half of the lightsaber in the Rehabilitation Wing of the Forest Array, along with Gera himself, who was submerged in a bacta tank for preservation, as per Khri's instructions.

Age of the Empire

After being in stasis for two centuries, Jedi Knight Cal Kestis freed Gera from his imprisonment. Kestis informed him of the destruction of the Jedi and the rise of the Galactic Empire from the Republic's demise. Subsequently, Kestis returned Gera's lightsaber to him. Gera, after making his way to the nearest flat surface, used telekinesis to disassemble his lightsaber and channeled his anger and hatred towards the Jedi Order, who he felt had betrayed him, into the crystal, bleeding it until it became a deep red.

Dagan Gera bled the kyber crystal of his lightsaber red after emerging from stasis.

During the fallen Jedi's journey to return to Tanalorr, Gera used the lightsaber to duel Kestis on multiple occasions. After Kestis and his friend Bode Akuna killed Gera, Bode secretly took one half of the lightsaber.

When Akuna betrayed Kestis and the Hidden Path to the Empire, revealed himself as a former Jedi, and attempted to reach Tanalorr on his own with his daughter, he used Gera's blade to fight Kestis in two separate encounters. While Akuna won their first battle, Kestis ultimately defeated him in their second encounter, causing the lightsaber to fall from his grasp. Kestis then killed Akuna when he refused to listen to reason. Afterward, the lightsaber was left behind in the temple on Tanalorr as Kestis and the crew of the Stinger Mantis held a funeral for Akuna, Cere Junda, and Eno Cordova.
