In the year 137 ABY, a group of five One Sith operatives lay in wait and then attacked a small group of four Jedi who had gathered on the planet called Daluuj. Following the Jedi Order's widespread dispersal throughout the galaxy after the Sith decimated their ranks seven years earlier during the devastation that followed the, Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire had been actively pursuing and eliminating any remaining Jedi in the intervening period. Wolf Sazen, a Jedi Master, was convinced that his former Padawan, Cade Skywalker—the scion of the renowned Skywalker family—possessed the unique ability to unite the Jedi against the Sith threat. Consequently, he arranged a meeting on Daluuj with three other Jedi, intending to solicit their assistance in locating Skywalker.
On Daluuj, Sazen, alongside Master Ahn Rasi Tuum, Jedi Knight Shado Vao, and a Human female Jedi, convened on a bridge. Sazen articulated his beliefs to his fellow Jedi, completely unaware that a Sith contingent was observing them from concealed positions. The Sith launched their attack, swiftly ending the lives of Tuum and the Human female. However, Sazen and Vao retaliated fiercely. Through a combination of lightsaber combat, applications of telekinesis, and forceful kicks, they managed to defeat all five of their adversaries. This encounter spurred Vao to declare that he no longer desired to remain in hiding from the Sith, and he committed to joining Sazen in his mission to find Skywalker. The pair departed the scene to commence their search, eventually locating their target on the planet Vendaxa.
Back in 130 ABY, the Galactic Empire, in conjunction with its Sith allies, initiated a coordinated, two-pronged assault against the Jedi Order, besieging the Jedi Temples situated on the planets of Coruscant and Ossus. During this conflict, the Human Jedi Master Kol Skywalker was among the numerous Jedi who were killed, and his son Cade was also presumed dead. However, Cade's Master, the Zabrak Wolf Sazen, remained unconvinced, as he had not sensed the younger Skywalker's demise through the Force. As Sazen escaped Ossus aboard a shuttle, he pledged to find his missing Padawan.
Shortly thereafter, the Sith Lord Darth Krayt usurped control of the galaxy, and his new Empire dedicated the subsequent seven years to aggressively hunting down any Jedi who had survived. With the Jedi Order scattered across the galaxy, they were unable to effectively coordinate a unified resistance. Following a Force vision, Sazen became convinced that Cade Skywalker, a descendant of the legendary Skywalker family, was the only individual capable of uniting the Jedi in opposition to the Sith. In 137 ABY, amidst the ongoing Second Imperial Civil War, Sazen heeded the call of the Force and determined that the moment was opportune to gather the Jedi and initiate the search for his former apprentice.

Sazen successfully located two Jedi: a Human female and the Twi'lek Shado Vao, both of whom he arranged to meet on the planet Daluuj. Vao, in turn, contacted the Cathar Master Ahn Rasi Tuum, who also agreed to attend the meeting. Upon Sazen's arrival at the designated rendezvous point—a bridge decorated with the severed heads of droids impaled on spears—he found his three comrades awaiting him. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, their presence on the bridge had been detected by a Sith group, who were secretly observing their meeting from concealed locations.
With Sazen now present, Vao correctly guessed that the Zabrak intended to commence the search for Skywalker, while Tuum expressed his belief that Sazen's former Padawan was deceased. Sazen firmly maintained that Skywalker was still alive and proceeded to explain why he felt that locating the young Human was crucial. At that precise moment, the Sith revealed themselves by launching a spear that pierced Tuum's chest, resulting in the Cathar's death as he fell from the bridge.
The three remaining Jedi activated their lightsabers as five Sith emerged into view. A duel erupted, with lightsaber blades colliding, and a Human Sith warrior struck down the Human Jedi before kicking her off the bridge. Despite the loss of their allies, Sazen and Vao managed to eliminate all five of their adversaries through the use of their weapons, strategically placed kicks, and applications of telekinesis. The final two Sith to fall were a Rodian and an Aqualish, who were decapitated by Sazen and bisected at the waist by Vao, respectively. With their enemies defeated, Vao confessed that he was weary of hiding from the Sith and expressed his desire to become a hunter. He pledged his allegiance to Sazen's mission, and the two departed the battlefield to begin their search for Skywalker.
Shortly thereafter, Vao received an urgent holocomm message from his sister, Astraal. The holocomm signal she utilized was a prearranged code they had developed during their childhood to signal danger, indicating that they should meet on the planet Vendaxa. Sazen and Vao traveled to the designated meeting location on Vendaxa, where they discovered Astraal and her companion, Marasiah Fel, fleeing from Sith agents and in the company of the crew of the pirate vessel known as the Mynock. The ship's captain was none other than Skywalker himself, who had abandoned his Jedi heritage and embraced a life of bounty hunting following the death of his father. Although he remained unmoved by Sazen's appeals to his past, he did retrieve a lightsaber and participate in a fight against the Sith agents who had pursued Fel and Astraal to Vendaxa.
The ambush scene was featured in the second issue of the Star Wars: Legacy comic series. The issue was authored by John Ostrander, illustrated by Jan Duursema, and published by Dark Horse Comics on July 12, 2006.
