The Ash Worlds were a sector situated within the Outer Rim Territories. This region encompassed the Iego system, notable as the location of the planet Iego, renowned for its countless moons, and the rocky world Sran. During the Nihil conflict taking place in the High Republic Era, Andrik Keller, a member of the Nihil Strike forces, journeyed to Sran. There, he met his end at the hands of Pan Eyta, a former Tempest Runner of the Nihil, after Keller inadvertently revealed the location of Eyta's rival, the Tempest Runner Lourna Dee. Later, during the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Separatist forces briefly held Iego. Upon their departure, they left behind a laser web deployed among the planet's moons, effectively trapping the inhabitants. This predicament persisted until Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker uncovered the problem while visiting Iego in their search for reeksa root.
Within the vast expanse of the Outer Rim Territories lay the Ash Worlds, a distinct sector of the galaxy. The [Iego system](/article/iego_system], and potentially other areas, were situated in the Slice region. The system of Iego was home to the planet Iego, a celestial body well-known for its impressive array of one thousand moons. The rocky planet Sran was also located within the Ash Worlds.
Back in 231 BBY, Andrik Keller, an operative from the Nihil pirates Strike who had managed to survive the defeat of Lourna Dee's Tempest at the Battle of Galov, made his way to Sran. Upon entering a cantina, Keller heard a serving droid suggest that the planet's frequent dust storms were the inspiration behind the Ash Worlds' name. While in the cantina, Keller encountered a Dowutin who was revealed to be the former Tempest Runner Pan Eyta, who sought to exact revenge on Lourna Dee. Unaware of Eyta's identity, Keller shared information about Dee's condition and location, prompting Eyta to kill Keller before departing Sran.
During the early stages of the Clone Wars, a major conflict between the Galactic Republic and the secessionist Confederacy of Independent Systems, Iego was briefly occupied by Separatist forces. These forces established a laser web among the planet's moons. When the Separatists abandoned Iego, they left the security system active, trapping the planet's residents as the laser web destroyed any starship attempting to escape. The Iegoans attributed these events to a supposed curse from Drol, the mythical phantom ruler of Iego.
In 21 BBY, Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker visited Iego in their quest for reeksa root. This root was the only known cure for the deadly Blue Shadow Virus, which had been recreated by the Separatist scientist Nuvo Vindi, and they hoped to save those on Naboo who had been infected. After obtaining the root, the two Jedi discovered the laser web as they attempted to leave, immediately recognizing it as a security measure. Subsequently, Kenobi, Skywalker, and the astromech droid R2-D2 utilized repurposed vulture droids left behind by the Separatists to destroy the laser web and its main generator, allowing the Iegoans to once again travel off-world.
