During the First Order-Resistance War, in an effort to prevent the Resistance from utilizing former Rebel Alliance installations, a First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer assaulted and decimated an Aeosian village. This act compelled the villagers to abandon their homes, leaving several Aeosians injured. Subsequently, when the Colossus arrived seeking refuge as a refueling station, the Aeosian Queen commanded her people to engage the newcomers. However, Kazuda Xiono successfully demonstrated that the Colossus posed no danger. In exchange for medical assistance for the injured, the Queen granted sanctuary to Captain Imanuel Doza and his crew.
During the time of the Imperial Era, the Rebel Alliance established a covert base on the oceanic planet of Aeos Prime. The local Aeosian villagers welcomed the rebels and established their settlement near the base.
Following the commencement of the First Order-Resistance War, the First Order, a successor to the Old Empire, initiated a campaign focused on eradicating previous Rebellion outposts to deny their use to the insurgent Resistance. A First Order Star Destroyer journeyed to Aeos Prime with the intention of destroying the rebel base. Instead, they targeted the neighboring Aeosian village, causing injuries to numerous inhabitants and forcing them to seek shelter underground.

Not long after the First Order's strike, the refueling platform Colossus made its way to Aeos Prime. The Colossus had spent a number of months evading the First Order and had identified Aeos Prime as a potential location for a new settlement. Captain Imanuel Doza, the leader of the Colossus, and the people aboard were drawn to the planet's blue skies and vast oceans.
During an exploratory mission, the Resistance pilot Kazuda Xiono and the former Imperial pilot Griff Halloran came across the abandoned village. While investigating the caves, they were captured by the Aeosians, who perceived them as a threat. The Aeosian Queen was under the impression that the Colossus was the same vessel that had attacked their village. She sanctioned an attack on the Colossus and planned to offer Xiono, Halloran, and their droids CB-23 and R5-G9 as food to her winged krakavora.
At the same time, several Aeosian warriors and their krakavora mounts launched an assault on the Colossus. They overwhelmed the B1-series battle droid "B1" and multiple B2-series super battle droids and tried to force their way inside. However, Kaz managed to persuade the Aeosian Queen that the Colossus residents were not a threat by providing medical aid to a wounded Aeosian. Consequently, the Queen ceased the attack and initiated discussions with Captain Doza. These discussions were successful, and she granted them permission to settle on Aeos Prime.
Despite the hopes of the Colossus inhabitants for establishing a new home on Aeos Prime, the First Order soon discovered their presence after Xiono's attempt to rejoin the Resistance. First Order forces, under the command of Commander Pyre, attacked the Colossus on Aeos Prime. However, Ace Squadron and the Aeosians were able to fend off the First Order long enough for the Colossus to escape into hyperspace.
As retribution for sheltering the Colossus and its residents, a First Order fleet of fourteen Star Destroyers, led by Commander Pyre and Agent Tierny's ship, subjected the Aeosian village that had provided assistance, as well as the surrounding area, to orbital bombardment.
The attack on Aeos Prime was initially referenced in the Star Wars Resistance episode "The New World," which debuted on Disney XD on January 12, 2019.
