Attack on Lucazec

During the events of the Berch Teller campaign, specifically in the year 14 BBY, Berch Teller and the members of his rebel cell launched an assault on the ore mining facility owned by TaggeCo situated on the planet Lucazec. This event transpired while Wilhuff Tarkin was in hyperspace in pursuit of his corvette, named the Carrion Spike, which had been stolen. Following their strike, the rebels disseminated footage of their operation via a holovid that was widely distributed across the Imperial HoloNet.

Prelude

In the Imperial Era, TaggeCo, controlled by the wealthy and influential House of Tagge, maintained a mining facility in orbit above Lucazec. A small contingent of ground forces and a squadron of V-wing starfighters were assigned to protect the facility. General Cassio Tagge, a member of the Galactic Empire's Ruling Council, was among the TaggeCo leadership. Because TaggeCo's Lucazec facility was a supplier of ore to the Galactic Empire, it became a prime target for Berch Teller's rebel cell, led by the former Republic Intelligence officer. Motivated by outrage over the Antar Atrocity, Teller and his fellow rebels dedicated themselves to opposing the Empire. Anora Fair, a human journalist, and Hask Taff, a film director, were two key members who employed their filmmaking skills to create propaganda holovids that documented their attacks. Teller's group also absconded with Moff Tarkin's personal vessel, the Carrion Spike, intending to use it as a symbol of resistance against the Empire.

The raid

The Carrion Spike, having traveled inward of the Perlemian Trade Route, commenced its attack on the Lucazec mining facility. The rebels bombed the orbital processing plant, causing explosions and sending debris from the facility plummeting into space. The Carrion Spike also destroyed several V-wings and ore haulers, with wreckage falling towards the planet's surface. Simultaneously, the rebels targeted mining operations on the ground. Using their expertise, Anora Fair and Hask Taff filmed the attack and produced a holovid, which was then broadcast across the Imperial HoloNet. Emperor Palpatine and his Ruling Council, who were assembled at the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, received this transmission.

Aftermath

The Empire responded by dispatching Imperial Navy warships to safeguard critical Imperial infrastructure along both the Perlemian and the Hydian Way. After analyzing the rebels' operational patterns, Tarkin surmised that they were collaborating with the warship responsible for the attack on Sentinel Base. Due to the Carrion Spike's specific fuel requirements, Tarkin correctly predicted that the vessel would head to either Gromas in the Perkell sector or Phindar in the Mandalore sector to replenish its fuel supply. Teller, disguised as an Imperial officer, successfully connected with a tanker and refueled the Carrion Spike. Although Tarkin and Vader intercepted the rebels, they managed to escape following a brief skirmish.

Behind the scenes

The events surrounding the attack on Lucazec are depicted in James Luceno's 2014 novel, Tarkin.
