Babwa Venomor, a Trandoshan commander, spearheaded his species' efforts in aiding the Galactic Empire with the resource exploitation of the planet Kashyyyk. Between the years of 19 BBY and 18 BBY, he discovered that a renegade Jedi had attacked his forces, and subsequently led a Trandoshan-Imperial convoy composed of Trandoshan collaborators and clone stormtroopers to hunt them down.
Subsequently, the convoy was caught in an ambush orchestrated by the Jedi Gungi, the defected Clone Force 99, and the inhabitants of a nearby Wookiee sanctuary. During the ensuing conflict, Venomor, armed with a flame cannon, pursued Gungi into the depths of the jungle alone. However, after his weapon was rendered useless, a group of three netcasters descended upon the Trandoshan, ensnaring him in webbing and carrying him away.
Babwa Venomor, a hunter, functioned as the commander of an ambitious band of Trandoshans who actively collaborated with the Galactic Empire. These Trandoshans ravaged the verdant forests of the jungle planet Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiee species, assisting their Imperial allies in plundering the planet's resources and subjecting it to Imperial domination.
Sometime between 19 BBY and 18 BBY, Venomor received a hologram communication from a tank commander reporting that their modified Armored Assault Tank Mk I crew and accompanying guards had encountered additional standing stones impeding their progress through the jungle. Venomor instructed the tank commander to destroy the stones and adhere to the schedule before terminating the transmission. However, after setting the stones ablaze, the tank commander's unit was attacked and killed by the Wookiee Jedi Gungi and his comrades in Clone Force 99.
Venomor later arrived at the clearing where the tank had been obliterated, as part of a larger Trandoshan-Imperial convoy that included two more tanks and multiple clone stormtroopers under his command. Emerging from a tank hatch and sniffing the air, he approached the destroyed tank, where the clones had discovered marks left by Gungi's lightsaber. When the clones suggested informing Imperial command, Venomor asserted that it would be unnecessary if he could locate the Jedi himself. Climbing onto one of the tanks, he announced to the assembled Trandoshans that he would award one hundred Wookiee pelts to whoever located the Jedi first.
Venomor's extensive convoy subsequently pursued tracks leading towards another nearby Wookiee sanctuary, but as the tracks diverged, they were ambushed by Gungi, Clone Force 99, and the Wookiee villagers, who destroyed one of the convoy's tanks utilizing a thermal detonator. Venomor commanded his men to attack as the opposing force initiated fire from the undergrowth. However, the Wookiees and their allies soon retreated, luring the Trandoshans and stormtroopers deeper into the jungle before resuming their assault.
Venomor observed Gungi disabling another tank with his lightsaber before emerging from his own tank wielding a flame cannon. Aiming at the Jedi, he inadvertently ignited one of his own men on fire while attempting to target Gungi. However, the Wookiee evaded the flames and retreated into the forest, drawing Venomor in pursuit alone. Gungi's allies then directed the commander's remaining forces into a netcaster nest, where they were overwhelmed and defeated. Stalking Gungi through the forest with his weapon at the ready, Venomor began setting the foliage ablaze as he spotted the Jedi darting past him. Soon, the Trandoshan found himself encircled by flames, into which Gungi leapt from a nearby tree. Skillfully evading the Jedi's lightsaber, he continued to fire the flame cannon, repelling the Wookiee when Gungi slashed at him again.
Realizing the slash had destroyed his flame cannon, Venomor discarded it and his satchel, preparing to fight with his bare claws. However, before he could attack, three netcasters descended from the canopy above, surrounding him. Gungi deactivated his lightsaber, and no longer perceiving the Wookiee as a threat, the netcasters began prodding Venomor with their mouth appendages. The Trandoshan attempted to defend himself, but was quickly knocked to the ground and ensnared in webbing. As Gungi leapt to safety from the ring of fire, Venomor was pulled screaming into the canopy by the netcasters' webbing.
Venomor was a Trandoshan characterized by red eyes and yellow scales mottled with green. His sole concerns were trophies and boasting rights, and he was captivated by the prospect of capturing a Jedi survivor as a potential prize. He incentivized his men with Wookiee pelts for finding the Jedi, and was prepared to take any risk to claim Gungi for himself, preferring to hunt alone and locate Gungi himself rather than alerting Imperial command. He pursued Gungi with murderous intent, even inadvertently setting one of his soldiers on fire and abandoning him to his fate while chasing the Jedi.
Venomor's voice was provided by JP Karliak in "Tribe," the sixth episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch's second season, which aired on February 1, 2023. The character was originally conceived under the name Babwa Venomor for an unfinished arc of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which was set on Kashyyyk and written by Matt Michnovetz. The name "Babwa Venomor" was directly inspired by Star Wars creator George Lucas during the arc's development. Series supervising director Dave Filoni first alluded to Venomor and his role as the antagonist of this arc at Celebration Anaheim in 2015. Venomor was depicted in a piece of concept art created by Jim Moore for the arc's first episode, dated December 4, 2012, which Moore subsequently uploaded to his ArtStation account.
In the unfinished episode, Venomor was affiliated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars with the Galactic Republic. Venomor and other Trandoshans—supported by the Confederacy—would have attacked Kashyyyk in 19 BBY. In response to that incursion, the Wookiees would have been compelled to burn a number of trees to expel the invaders. The Trandoshan's costume design for the episode comprised a belt and a sleeveless blue outfit bearing the Confederacy's hexagonal emblem.
