The narrative "Better the Devil You Know, Part II" is centered around Rey's experiences on the desert planet of Jakku, specifically revolving around the kidnapping of Unkar Plutt. This second installment was the premier story featured in Star Wars Adventures (2017) 2, released on September 20, 2017.
On the Inner Rim planet Jakku, Rey, a scavenger, stumbled upon Unkar Plutt, who had been kidnapped and was incapacitated in stuncuffs within the desert. He was surrounded by Zool Zendiat and his collective. Despite her dislike for Unkar Plutt, Rey felt compelled to intervene, believing it was wrong for him to be used as food for the Ripper-raptors. She attributed Plutt's abduction to her sale of the J9 worker drone to him, which the Zendiat Collective sought. Sliding down a dune, she concealed herself behind containers, extracting a collection of comlinks and strategically placing them around her. As the raptors circled above, Zendiat pressed Plutt for the location of the droid head. Rey then activated her comlink, emitting a bloggin squawk that echoed through the other comlinks. Capitalizing on their confusion, she emerged and confronted Zool and his group. Using her quarterstaff, Rey incapacitated Tryki, using him as a projectile against Kanna. Ramakak, a Talz armed with three blaster pistols, fired at Rey, but she dodged the shots and knocked him unconscious.
Unkar Plutt questioned Rey's actions, to which she responded that she was there to rescue him. Plutt urged her to hurry, but as Rey attempted to deactivate the stuncuffs, she was shocked by Zool's vibro-knife. Tryki informed Zool that Rey had discovered the comlinks near their starship, expressing admiration for her tactic. Zendiat turned to Rey, questioning what would prevent them from simply shooting her. Rey produced the head of the J9 droid, prompting Zendiat to allow her to speak. Rey offered to exchange the droid head for the safe passage of herself and Unkar Plutt. Zool Zendiat, while impressed by her audacity, decided to attack Rey and seize the head. Anticipating this, Rey threw the droid head into the air, ran to Plutt, and deactivated his stuncuffs. Angered by Rey's tone, Unkar Plutt shoved her into Ramakak, sending them both tumbling. Plutt then caught the droid head, informing Zool Zendiat that it must be worth a considerable sum. He then tossed Rey's corn-clusters into the air, attracting the Ripper-raptors, which began attacking the Zendiat Collective. He and Rey escaped, but before they could leave Jakku, Rey used her quarterstaff to launch the droid head back at the group. They managed to retrieve it and depart Jakku.
During their return to Niima Outpost, Rey revealed to Plutt that the droid head was worthless and that Krynodd had taken over his business. Enraged, Unkar Plutt stormed into Niima Outpost to reclaim his enterprise.
The day after, Rey exited her home to find a crate containing ration packs and a holocube. A message from Unkar Plutt played, informing her that the rations were payment for her assistance in returning him to Niima Outpost and warning her not to attempt to sell the holocube. Rey interpreted this as a gesture of gratitude from Unkar Plutt, acknowledging that some days are more favorable than others.
