Daren, a human male, experienced a life-altering event during the Clone Wars when Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker intervened to save him from two menacing B2-series super battle droids. A year following the establishment of the Galactic Empire's reign, Daren found himself on the planet Mon Cala, accompanying Jedi Padawan Ferren Barr alongside five of Barr's other followers, having been informed about Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One believed by some to bring balance to the Force. The Separatist Droid Army launched an assault on Daren's settlement amidst the Clone Wars. He soon faced imminent danger, as a B2-series super battle droid aimed its weapon at him, prepared to eliminate him. However, before Daren could meet his end, a Jedi Knight who introduced himself as Anakin Skywalker swiftly bisected both droids. Skywalker urged Daren to seek shelter and then engaged in the ongoing conflict.
As the Clone Wars concluded, clone troopers betrayed the Jedi, nearly eradicating them. The nascent Galactic Empire disseminated messages asserting the Jedi's extinction. Daren, who held a Jedi in high regard for saving his life, encountered a surviving Jedi Padawan named Ferren Barr. Barr, presenting himself as a Jedi Master, offered Daren a purpose in opposing the Empire. Daren accepted, joining Barr and his group of acolytes.
Mon Cala became the destination for Barr, Daren, and the five other acolytes, where Barr began to influence King Lee-Char's discussions with the Empire. This drew the attention of the Empire, leading Moff Wilhuff Tarkin to position the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Sovereign above Mon Cala. Emperor Palpatine dispatched his enforcer, Darth Vader, along with three Inquisitors to investigate. Unaware of Vader's arrival, Barr planned to assassinate Tarkin's ambassador, Telvar, which prompted Tarkin to deploy his forces to Mon Cala. Lee-Char cautioned Barr about the approaching forces and identified Vader as Anakin Skywalker, which Barr confirmed.
Barr approached Daren, informing him of Skywalker's presence. He showed them an image of Skywalker attacking the Jedi Temple, explaining his transformation into Darth Vader, who now hunt surviving Jedi with the aid of Inquisitors, whom Barr labeled as Jedi traitors. Daren questioned Barr about his silence regarding the Inquisitors' Jedi origins. Barr responded that revealing this information immediately after Palpatine's ascension to power might have made a difference, but now, no one would believe him, and even if they did, Palpatine would simply deny it.
Tarkin's forces initially achieved winning in Dac City, but they were overwhelmed by massive tidal waves created by large creatures. Vader and his Inquisitors survived and discovered the location of Barr and his acolytes. Lee-Char warned Barr of Vader's impending arrival, prompting Barr to order Daren and the others to prepare for evacuation. As they departed Barr's refuge, they encountered Vader and the Inquisitors on an Imperial submarine. The acolytes scattered, except for Nipaltoo, who directly attacked Vader's submarine. Vader crushed Nipaltoo's helmet and pursued the remaining acolytes.

Barr and the others headed towards Bel City, pursued by Vader. Another acolyte, Orvek, sacrificed himself to delay Vader. Upon reaching Bel City, Rebb and Stell remained behind to further impede their pursuers. Barr, Daren, and Verla sought a ship, only to find the hangar empty. Barr emphasized the urgency of finding an alternative escape route, but it was too late. Daren was struck down by the Sixth Brother's lightsaber. The Sixth Brother and the other two Inquisitors then surrounded Barr and Verla.
Daren's initial appearance occurred in the canon comic Darth Vader (2017) 14, penned by Charles Soule and illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli.
