Biography

Joining Ferren Barr

Orvek and their people were evicted by the Empire, which demolished their home.

Not long after the founding of the Galactic Empire occurred in 19 BBY, Orvek's residence was destroyed to make way for an Imperial relay station. As Orvek observed the destruction of their lifelong home, one of the citizens protested to the clone shock troopers who were guarding the area. The clone troopers attempted to reassure them by promising compensation, but then refused to provide information about where the group should go and aimed their blasters at them, compelling an angered Orvek and the others to leave. At a later point, Orvek encountered Ferren Barr – a former Jedi Padawan who presented himself as a Jedi Master – inside a cantina. Barr, who had succumbed to the dark side of the Force, informed Orvek that they would overthrow the Empire together, manipulating them into joining his cause using a Jedi mind trick and making Orvek one of his six acolytes.

By 18 BBY, Barr had taken Orvek and the other acolytes to the planet of Mon Cala. There, Barr began to influence the Mon Calamari King Lee-Char in his discussions with the Empire. Emperor Palpatine, believing that the king was being influenced by a Jedi, dispatched the Sith Lord Darth Vader and members of the Inquisitorius – former Jedi who became Jedi hunters – to the planet. Upon learning of Vader's impending arrival, Barr revealed to Orvek and his disciples that Vader was once the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, but had turned to the dark side and attacked the Jedi Temple located on the planet Coruscant. By presenting elements of Vader's past through a hologram, Barr explained that Skywalker had transformed into Vader and had begun hunting any surviving Jedi alongside the Inquisitors. Barr then told his disciples that he had devised a plan that would allow them to avenge the Jedi and encourage rebellion against the Empire.

Evacuation and death

After King Lee-Char informed Barr that Vader had discovered Barr's location, Barr gave the order to evacuate his refuge. The disciples put on self-contained dive suits in order to swim and breathe underwater, and Barr then explained his plan to flee the planet. Orvek objected to this decision, suggesting that they should assist the people of Mon Cala – who were experiencing an invasion by the Empire – given that Barr had been advising their king. Barr insisted that they had done all that they needed to do on Mon Cala, but that they also needed to bring about change elsewhere. He then sent his disciples into the ocean through a hole in the bottom of the cave, before following them.

Orvek makes their last stand.

As the disciples traveled through the water using Underwater Turbo Sled Pikes, they were soon located by Vader, who was aboard his Imperial submarine. One of the other acolytes, Nipaltoo, fired at Vader's submarine in an attempt to preempt the fight, but Vader simply crushed their helmet with the Force. As the remaining acolytes fled toward Bel City at Barr's instruction, Orvek realized that Vader was closing in and turned their pike around. One of the disciples, Verla, noticed this and inquired about Orvek's actions. Orvek explained that they were attempting to buy the others time to escape by slowing down the Imperials. Orvek then turned around and attacked Vader's submarine head-on, wielding a harpoon gun. As Orvek expressed their enthusiasm for fighting the Imperials, they were killed in an explosion. However, Orvek's actions slowed Vader down enough for the others to reach Bel City.
