Elrik Vonreg's RK-3 blaster

A uniquely colored red RK-3 blaster, customized with a distinct hue, was the sidearm of choice for First Order Major Elrik Vonreg. This pistol, a product of Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. and Sonn-Blas Corporation, saw action in 34 ABY. In that year, following the First Order's employment of pirate Kragan Gorr and his Warbird gang for the abduction of pilot Torra Doza, Vonreg turned the weapon against the pirates. This betrayal unfolded aboard their sail barge, known as the Galleon. During the ensuing confrontation, the pilot used the blaster to subdue pirates Drell and Skreek, successfully rescuing Doza from her captors.

Description

Major Elrik Vonreg wielded a modified RK-3 blaster dating back to the Imperial-era, distinguished by its striking red finish – a deliberate match for his signature crimson armor. This single-handed weapon incorporated white indicator lights on its rear, providing a visual representation of the pistol's power levels. Known for its exceptional accuracy, Vonreg's pistol fired bolts of red blaster energy.

History

Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. and Sonn-Blas Corporation manufactured this blaster, which was subsequently used by First Order Special Forces pilot Elrik Vonreg. The events of 34 ABY saw the First Order discreetly task pirate Kragan Gorr and his Warbird gang with a clandestine mission: to abduct pilot Torra Doza from the Colossus refueling station orbiting the planet Castilon. This plot was designed to pressure Imanuel Doza, the station's captain and Torra's father, into seeking First Order protection from fabricated pirate raids. Following the successful capture of Torra by the Warbirds, their leader contacted Commander Pyre within the First Order to report the mission's completion. Pyre then assigned Vonreg the task of delivering the agreed-upon payment to the pirates aboard their sail barge, the Galleon.

Upon the major's arrival, disembarking from a shuttle, he was greeted by pirates Drell, Skreek, and Valik, who presented the captured Doza. Vonreg exchanged greetings with Gorr before revealing his pistol and initiating an attack on the Warbirds. He successfully incapacitated Drell with a shot, and sent Skreek tumbling into Castilon's ocean, though both ultimately survived. Vonreg then escorted Doza back to the shuttle, continuing to fire at Gorr's pirates. After disengaging from the skirmish, the shuttle returned to the Colossus station, where Vonreg reunited Torra with her father.

Behind the scenes

The blaster's initial appearance occurred in "The Doza Dilemma," the fourteenth installment of Star Wars Resistance's first season, an animated television series that premiered on January 27, 2019. Lucasfilm Animation artist Aaron Pham created the pistol's concept art on July 27, 2017. Before the episode aired, the pistol was initially showcased in the "NYCC 2018: Hasbro Joins the Resistance" article posted on StarWars.com on October 6, 2018. This article displayed images of the Elrik Vonreg action figure from Hasbro's Star Wars Resistance line, which was released in December of that year. Notably, the blaster included with Vonreg's figure lacked the red accents.
