The event known as the Fall of Bastion transpired in 137 ABY. During this time, Emperor [Roan Fel](/article/roan_fel], along with his followers, successfully reclaimed Bastion from the loyalists who were aligned with Darth Krayt.
Back in 130 ABY, Darth Krayt, who was the supreme commander of the One Sith, had seized control of the Imperial throne. He ousted Emperor Roan Fel following the events of the Sith–Imperial War. This war saw the Empire wrest control of the galaxy away from the Galactic Alliance, which had been the ruling power. Krayt attempted to eliminate Fel during this takeover, but Fel had cleverly used a double in his place. Fel then became a persistent annoyance to Krayt, launching guerrilla attacks, much like the Rebellion had done nearly 140 years prior. Lacking a significant base for a full-scale offensive, Fel decided to seize Bastion, the former capital of the Imperial Remnant, which was the government that preceded Fel's own Empire.
Roan Fel arrived on the planet aboard a Nune-class Imperial Shuttle, accompanied by three of his elite Imperial Knights: Masters Antares Draco, Ganner Krieg, and Sigel Dare. Upon arrival, he was met by Lieutenant Kiefer of the Imperial Army, who demanded his surrender. However, Fel delivered a passionate address to the Imperial stormtroopers of the renowned 501st Legion, urging them to join him in opposing the usurper Dark Lord of the Sith. The 501st, without hesitation, knelt before their rightful Emperor, effectively abandoning their service to Krayt's Empire.
Lieutenant Kiefer commanded the stormtroopers to rise, asserting that they owed no allegiance to the deposed Emperor. When they ignored his command, Kiefer drew his blaster, intending to execute Fel. However, General Oron Jaeger, the commanding officer of the 501st Legion, swiftly ordered Kiefer's execution. Jaeger informed Fel that his forces were now under Fel's command, signifying the completion of the takeover.
With Bastion now under the control of the Empire-in-exile, Fel began to consolidate his forces to challenge Krayt. He hoped to keep his clandestine seizure of Bastion a secret from the galaxy, especially from Krayt. However, Krayt, seeking to lure Fel into the open, tasked his personal assassin, Darth Talon, with capturing or driving Fel's daughter, Marasiah Fel, to her father. Even with his daughter in danger, Fel instructed his Imperial Knights, particularly Draco and Krieg, to stay away from Marasiah. Fel understood that Krayt must not discover the capture of Bastion so that Fel could secretly assemble his forces. If Draco and Krieg rescued Marasiah, Imperial forces would trace them back to Bastion, revealing Fel's location. Despite these orders, Draco and Krieg disobeyed Fel and went to rescue Marasiah on Vendaxa, where she and Astraal Vao, a Twi'lek from the Imperial Mission, were trapped by Talon. Krieg and Draco, with the assistance of Cade Skywalker, the last descendant of the Skywalker family, managed to save them from the Sith. However, this rescue revealed Fel's presence on Bastion. Consequently, Krayt dispatched Darth Kruhl on a mission to assassinate Fel, but the attempt failed.
The Fall of Bastion is depicted in the third issue of Star Wars: Legacy, within the Broken story arc. It serves to advance the narrative and provides the reason why Draco and Krieg are forbidden from rescuing Marasiah.
