Finn Ertay was a female Twi'lek who fought for the Galactic Republic as a Jedi during the conflict known as the Clone Wars. On a spaceport located somewhere in the Outer Rim Territories, Ertay and another Jedi of the Kajain'sa'Nikto species encountered Maul and Savage Opress, who were brothers. During a lightsaber duel that ensued between the two Jedi and the brothers, Maul fatally impaled Ertay as she attempted to save her fellow Jedi, who then died shortly after.
During the Clone Wars, Finn Ertay, a Twi'lek Jedi, served both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. In the year 21 BBY, Ertay was present in the Jedi Temple's communication center, along with other Jedi, where she observed a message sent by General Grievous of the Separatist faction. Standing to the left of Eekar Oki, a Mon Calamari Jedi, Ertay witnessed Grievous torture Jedi Master Eeth Koth. Soon after Grand Master Yoda dismissed the Jedi younglings, she, Oki, and several others departed from the room.
In 20 BBY, Ertay stood alongside Oki and several Wookiees at a landing pad situated on the Temple's exterior. At that location, she greeted the returning Jedi trainees Jinx, O-Mer, and Ahsoka Tano. These trainees had been rescued from Wasskah by the Wookiee General Tarfful and were brought back to the temple aboard the Halo, which was the starship of the bounty hunter Sugi.
In 19 BBY, at a spaceport in the Outer Rim, Ertay and a Nikto Jedi engaged in a duel against Maul, the former Sith Lord, and his brother, Savage Opress. When Opress injured the Nikto Jedi, Ertay rolled under Maul in an attempt to assist her ally and intercept Opress's attack. However, Maul impaled her through her exposed back, resulting in her death. Ertay's comrade was also killed soon after.
Ertay possessed green skin and blue eyes. While at the temple, Ertay was often near high-ranking Jedi Masters such as Mace Windu and Grand Master Yoda. During the battle with the brothers, she swiftly abandoned her fight with Maul to protect her fellow Jedi when she saw him in danger. This act of selflessness ultimately led to her demise when Maul stabbed her from behind.
Ertay demonstrated proficiency in lightsaber combat, briefly managing to defend herself against Maul and Savage Opress. She displayed a degree of athleticism and speed, enabling her to slide between Maul's legs to block a blow from Savage that would have killed her comrade. However, her abilities were insufficient to save her life or overcome her adversaries.
Ertay utilized a blue lightsaber in combat. Both during battles and at the Jedi Temple, she wore brown Jedi robes. She also wore gear on her head that covered most of it, including her ear-cones, but not her lekku.
The character of Finn Ertay made her debut, though unnamed, in "Grievous Intrigue," which was the ninth episode of the second season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The episode was first broadcast on January 1, 2010. The character's name was revealed in the "Trivia & Details" section of the episode's guide on StarWars.com.
