Gerrenthum, a planet situated within the Gerrenthum system, was found in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. After Anoat, the prior capital, was rendered uninhabitable, Gerrenthum took over as the Anoat sector's governing center. For numerous years, Imperial Governor Ubrik Adelhard exercised absolute authority over the sector, demonstrating unwavering devotion to the Galactic Empire. Orbited by a security station, many business owners and politicians residing on Gerrenthum routinely bribed Imperial officials to turn a blind eye to their illicit conduct.
During the Iron Blockade, which the Empire put in place to try and stop news of their devastating loss to the Alliance to Restore the Republic at the Battle of Endor from getting to the people of the Anoat sector, the Smuggler dispatched crew members on various missions to Gerrenthum. These missions included sending a team disguised as Imperials to collect bribes from the locals to fund their future operations, boarding its orbital security station and deactivating its orbital alarm beacons at Leeka Pali's request, enabling the Trade Spine League to move their larger ships out of the [system](/article/star_system], and smuggling medical supplies from Gerrenthum to a temporary medical center located on the planet Nothoiin.
By the year 5 ABY, Gerrenthum was no longer aligned with the Empire's loyalist forces. Yrica Quell of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, when presenting a fabricated scenario to her commanding officer Soran Keize, suggested that Gerrenthum, along with Fedovoi End, another planet that had broken away from the loyalist faction, would pledge their allegiance to a newly formed Imperial High Command.
Gerrenthum was initially conceived for Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 Star Wars Legends sourcebook penned by Jonatha Caspian for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Its inclusion in the action role-playing game Star Wars: Uprising, developed by Kabam for iOS and Android platforms and launched on September 10, 2015, established it as canon.
