Ghadi

Ghadi, a male human, held the position of governor for the Tangenine sector situated in the Core Worlds. This was during the Galactic Empire's reign, and he was bestowed with the rank of Moff. A significant rivalry existed between him and Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, and he exhibited a tendency toward paranoia concerning both his standing and his own affairs. When Domus Renking, a Lothalite senator, attempted to transmit manipulated data to Moff Ghadi via a data card, Ghadi instead chose to blackmail Arihnda Pryce, Renking's aide. Furthermore, Ghadi held a disliking for Thrawn, the Chiss officer within the Imperial Navy, and aimed to entice his aide, Ensign Eli Vanto, away by using his own aide, Culper.

Following disruptions to his mining operations caused by smugglers, who also gained unauthorized access to his financial records, Moff Ghadi made an attempt to strong-arm Pryce into becoming a spy within the Higher Skies Advocacy Group, her new employer. Pryce, seeking to liberate herself from Moff Ghadi's control, baited him with stolen files from Higher Skies that concerned his rival, Tarkin. Driven by a craving for increased power and prestige, Ghadi demanded the illicit data, and Pryce complied. However, Pryce then revealed his opportunistic behavior to Grand Moff Tarkin in exchange for her own immunity.

Biography

Moff Ghadi, a male human, functioned as the Imperial Sector Governor of the strategically vital Tangenine sector in the Core World. He occupied a position of considerable authority and sway within the Imperial dominion, and maintained at least one informant within the Imperial Security Bureau. He possessed a suite located on the 5,000th floor of the upscale Alisandre Hotel, situated in Coruscant's prestigious Federal District.

Blackmailing Pryce

Senator Domus Renking, a Lothalite, attempted to deceive Moff Ghadi by sending his aide, Arihnda Pryce, to deliver a data card containing fabricated information to Ghadi. As instructed by Renking, Pryce directed Ghadi to insert the card into his secure datapad inside his hotel suite. However, Ghadi scrutinized the card and determined that it held counterfeit data.

Upon returning to his living area, Moff Ghadi handed Pryce a different card. When Pryce noticed the discrepancy, he commented that it was unfortunate she hadn't simply taken the incorrect card back to Renking. He then proceeded to spray her with polstine spice, an illegal spice that carried a punishment of life [imprisonment](/article/prison]. After exposing Renking's deceit, Ghadi commanded her to return the new card to her employer, Renking, and threatened to report her to the authorities if she refused.

Following Ghadi's orders, Pryce returned the data card to Senator Renking's office's data slot. Consequently, Senator Renking's office was subjected to an investigation for financial irregularities. Due to a reduction in funding, the Lothalian senator was compelled to shut down several of his citizen assistance offices. Renking, attempting to shift blame for his own failure, dismissed Pryce, thereby incurring her animosity.

Tempting Vanto

Around the same time, Ghadi utilized his aide, Culper, to approach Eli Vanto, offering him a position within a local Inner Rim security force. This was an effort to isolate and undermine Thrawn. Ghadi harbored a dislike for the alien officer, holding Thrawn responsible for failing to prevent insurgents from stealing hundreds of thousands of credits worth of tibanna gas during the Dromedar incident. After Vanto recognized the scheme and declined the offer, Ghadi used his influence to prevent Vanto's promotion, leaving him as an ensign for an extended period.

Reunion with Pryce

Moff Ghadi also employed a bodyguard named Ottlis Dos, who was provided by the Yinchom Dojo. This dojo specialized in training bodyguards for Imperial government officials and senators. One of the dojo's instructors, Juahir Madras, recruited bodyguards to spy on their employers, gathering intelligence for her friend Driller MarDapp in the Higher Skies Advocacy Group. This group served as a front for the insurgent Nightswan's spy ring on Coruscant. Utilizing this information, Nightswan's operatives disrupted Moff Ghadi's mining operations and acquired some of his private financial details.

Ottlis Dos subsequently became a double agent, providing Ghadi with information about Higher Skies' activities. Believing that Higher Skies was secretly working for one of his adversaries, Ghadi instructed Ottlis, who had befriended Pryce, to arrange a meeting with Pryce, who was now employed by Higher Skies as their mining expert. Under the guise of offering combat training, Ottlis led Pryce into Moff Ghadi's office.

Leveraging his past influence over Pryce, Ghadi coerced her into spying on the organization in order to discover who was targeting his mining interests. Following Ghadi's instructions, Pryce contacted her boss, Driller. Based on the conversation, Ghadi and Pryce concluded that Driller was not responsible for the recent attacks on Ghadi's mining operations. Threatening to blackmail Pryce for stealing documents if she refused to cooperate, Ghadi instructed Pryce to spy on Higher Skies. He directed her to copy all of Higher Skies' files, report on all their conversations, and compile lists of all their contacts.

Coveting power

Pryce exposed Moff Ghadi's opportunism to Grand Moff Tarkin

Although Pryce complied with Moff Ghadi's directives, she sought to escape his control. Pryce secretly met with Commander Thrawn and copied Higher Skies' files and records into a well-organized package. On Commander Thrawn's advice, Pryce agreed to spy on both Higher Skies and Moff Ghadi for the Imperial Security Bureau, and to exploit Ghadi's envy of his rival, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin.

Following Thrawn's advice, Pryce discovered that Higher Skies possessed an encrypted file on Tarkin. Informing Ghadi of her discovery, Pryce offered to copy them. Seeking to uncover damaging information on his rival, Ghadi instructed Pryce to download the files onto a data card and deliver it to his Whitehawk Tower address. Secretly, Pryce recorded Ghadi's conversation as evidence against him.

After Driller arranged a meeting between Pryce and Grand Moff Tarkin, Pryce revealed Higher Skies' espionage activities and Moff Ghadi's eagerness to use Higher Skies' stolen files on Tarkin to gain an advantage over the Grand Moff. She also provided Tarkin with Higher Skies' stolen file on Tarkin, as well as her secret recording of Moff Ghadi. This enabled Tarkin to politically undermine Ghadi's position and initiate a crackdown against Higher Skies. In exchange for her services, Pryce persuaded Tarkin to appoint her as Governor of Lothal and to promote Eli Vanto, reversing Ghadi's attempt to sabotage the latter's career.

Personality and traits

Moff Ghadi was a senior human male characterized by white hair. As a shrewd political operator, Ghadi recognized that Senator Renking was attempting to lower his guard by dispatching his female aide, Arihnda Pryce, to deliver a data card containing false information. Ghadi was prepared to engage in unethical tactics, including threatening to falsely accuse Arihnda Pryce of drug possession if she refused to comply with his instructions. Ghadi held a low opinion of the Lothalian Senator Domus Renking, regarding him as dull.

Ghadi also harbored xenophobic sentiments toward the Chiss Imperial Officer Thrawn, unjustly blaming him for the insurgents escaping with stolen tibanna during the Dromedar incident. Moff Ghadi also sought to safeguard his business interests and resented the fact that someone was leaking information on his financial records and mining operations to insurgents. To protect his business interests, Ghadi was willing to use threats to force Pryce into spying on her employers at Higher Skies.

Pryce, however, was able to capitalize on Ghadi's ambitions and jealousy of Grand Moff Tarkin by offering him data on the Grand Moff that Higher Skies had obtained through espionage. Ghadi's desire to gain an advantage over Tarkin led him to willingly break the law by accepting stolen information. Pryce outmaneuvered the unscrupulous Ghadi by exposing his opportunistic behavior to Grand Moff Tarkin, thus gaining his favor.
