Biography

Glunge used a laser-sniper.

During the Galactic Civil War – the conflict between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire – Glunge, a Gloovan, worked as a bounty hunter. Sometime around 0 ABY, shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Kuru, a swoop racer, and the bounty hunter Takvax discovered that the rebel smuggler Han Solo was participating in a swoop race located on the planet Rion in the Outer Rim Territories. In an effort to claim the substantial Imperial bounty on Solo, Takvax recruited Glunge and Makta, another swoop racer. Their plan involved incapacitating Solo during the race, sending him to a medical center, and then transporting him from there to Coruscant to collect the reward.

Kuru and Makta's initial attempts to crash Solo's vehicle were unsuccessful. After Makta crashed, and Kuru used a turbo-booster to get ahead of Solo, Glunge prepared to shoot the smuggler from a nearby rooftop using a laser-sniper. However, Luke Skywalker, a Jedi and ally of Solo who had forced Takvax to reveal Glunge's location, intervened and destroyed the sniper rifle with his lightsaber before he could fire. Glunge then attempted to escape, running to a swoop he had parked nearby, but Skywalker knocked him unconscious after realizing he needed the vehicle to save Solo. Although thermite micro-missiles launched by Kuru at Solo destroyed the swoop, Skywalker assisted Solo in winning the race and safely leaving the planet.
