Isabalia

In the year 3 ABY, a female named Isabalia resided in Cloud City on Bespin. She had a strong admiration for bounty hunters, particularly Boba Fett, and harbored romantic feelings for Joy Iya. During the Galactic Empire's control over Cloud City, Isabalia was presented with an opportunity to encounter Fett at the carbon-freezing facility. However, this conflicted with Iya's desire for Isabalia to join her, Recnelo Cott, and the Ugnaughts in a workers' strike. When a stormtrooper targeted Iya and Cott, Isabalia intervened to protect them, ultimately deciding to stand with Iya.

Biography

Early life

Cloud City was Isabalia's home.

For a time, Isabalia, a female, made her home in Cloud City located on Bespin. Her parents actively participated in the Cloud City community until they realized that Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian prioritized business over education. They disapproved of Isabalia's "misguided" focus on idolizing bounty hunters, especially Boba Fett, believing it promoted harming others instead of helping them. When Isabalia's parents relocated to Chandrila to work in educational institutions, she chose to remain on Cloud City.

Choosing her path

In the year 3 ABY, the seventeen-year-old Isabalia lived alone, renting a room on Level 121 from Recnelo Cott, an Ugnaught who worked in the Tibanna gas mines and lived separately from her clan. Cott disapproved of Isabalia's efforts to become a bounty hunter by working for Elad Zhalto, a Duros male who owned the underground gambling establishment known as the Azure Den. This involved Isabalia using force on others on Zhalto's behalf. After several encounters with Joy Iya while she worked at the Yarith, Isabalia developed romantic feelings for her, often becoming tongue-tied and captivated by Iya's eyes.

Isabalia's idol, the bounty hunter Boba Fett

One morning as Cott and Isabalia were on their way to work, they observed unfamiliar individuals along their usual route. Cott quietly informed Isabalia that the Galactic Empire had taken control of Cloud City and that stormtroopers were questioning people at the mines. At the Azure Den, Isabalia was shocked to find Boba Fett present and struggled to decide the best way to approach him. While she was contemplating this, Iya surprised her by appearing at the Azure Den, stating that she had been wanting to speak with Isabalia. As Iya dealt sabacc cards and engaged in conversation with her, Isabalia lost track of Fett. When she was summoned to Zhalto's office, she realized she had missed the opportunity to meet her idol because she was focused on Iya. Zhalto assigned Isabalia the task of persuading a woman named Na'Tala to return to his employment, partly by threatening to send his droid 3-76 if she refused; Isabalia knew this meant Na'Tala would be killed. He also exploited her desire to meet Fett and her concerns about her fashion sense by offering her new attire from the exclusive clothing store Cloud Regalia. Despite feeling guilty, Isabalia accepted the offer. As she was leaving the gambling den, Iya handed her a card inviting her to "A Change" that evening in Sector Four.

At Cloud Regalia, Isabalia obtained an elaborate blue jumpsuit and a matching cape, which the shop droid compared to Calrissian's style. She then broke into Na'Tala's apartment and discovered that her target also possessed a card for the same evening. Upon arriving at the designated location, Isabalia learned that Iya was organizing a city-wide work stoppage to draw the attention of Calrissian and other city officials. When Na'Tala approached Isabalia, she was unconcerned about being targeted and stated that she had her own message for Zhalto. Iya approached and expressed her belief in Isabalia's potential, causing her to blush. When Isabalia stated that she could not join Iya's movement until she had met and learned from Fett, Iya expressed her disappointment, and then left.

Outside a carbon-freezing facility, Isabalia faced a choice between her aspirations and her affections.

Isabalia brought Na'Tala to Zhalto, who instructed her to meet Fett at the carbon-freezing facility. After securing her weapons, she made her way to the facility and encountered Cott, who was also heading there for the work stoppage. Her friend criticized her for not joining the Cloud City workers, and Isabalia mentally debated how Cott, Iya, and her parents all seemed to perceive a different version of her than the one she saw in herself.

When a stormtrooper appeared and aimed a blaster at the group, Isabalia reacted instinctively, exchanging fire and then subduing the stormtrooper, tearing her new jumpsuit in the process. Having made her decision, she offered to join Iya's work stoppage, prompting Iya to express that she had not given up hope in her. As they gazed at each other, Isabalia wondered if they might share a future together. Cott interrupted them to commence the strike, and they joined hands as they participated.

Personality and traits

Isabalia had dark brown skin and black hair, styled with a shaved buzz cut on the left side and longer hair on the right. Although Zhalto praised her work with a Gamorrean, it had resulted in two scars above her eye. She was of petite stature.

At daybreak, she enjoyed watching the beldons as they floated through the sky and changed colors, which helped her feel centered. She wished she could dress like the beldons, shifting between invisibility and vibrancy, or have a distinctive look like Boba Fett, Aurra Sing, or Dengar. She once admired Lando Calrissian's flair and charisma, but she eventually saw him as just another politician with charming smiles and empty promises; however, she still appreciated his capes.

Skills and abilities

Being a resident of Cloud City, Isabalia learned the Ugnaught language spoken by the many Ugnaught workers, in addition to her proficiency in Galactic Basic.

Equipment

Isabalia carried a vibroknuckler and a Relby K-23 blaster pistol for self-defense.
