Lege

Lege was a Jedi Master of the Valon species, dedicating their service to the Jedi Order at the Jedi temple located on the planet Valo in the Outer Rim. In the year 231 BBY, they, along with other Jedi, played a role in the preparations for the upcoming Republic Fair held on the world. However, in the year following, Lege met their death during an attack perpetrated by Nihil marauders on Valo, occurring as they attempted to escape with the temple's younglings towards the safety of the planet's mountains.

Biography

During the High Republic Era, Lege was a Jedi Master of the Valon species, serving the Jedi Order at the Valo Temple situated on the planet Valo within the Outer Rim. In 231 BBY, as Lonisa City, the capital of Valo, geared up to host the Valo Republic Fair, Lege and fellow Master Kunpar Vasivola were involved in readying the Valo Temple for the event.

While the Valon Jedi Masters were away from the temple, the droid designated V-18 became aware of a security compromise at Valo's Crashpoint Tower communications tower. When the planet's communications system malfunctioned shortly after, V-18 tried unsuccessfully to locate or contact the Valo Temple's Jedi Masters via comm. Instead, the droid informed Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram about the issues at Crashpoint Tower, including the location of the other Jedi including Lege. Ultimately, Jomaram restored the tower's functionality, enabling the Jedi to collaborate with the Republic to fend off a strike by Nihil marauders on the Republic Fair.

Three younglings informed Ram Jomaram (center left) of Lege's death to the Nihil.

In 230 BBY, when Valo was attacked by the Nihil, all the Masters of the Valo Jedi temple, including Lege, quickly departed Lonisa City and attempted to escape into the planet's mountains. However, the Nihil intercepted the Jedi and killed all of them despite their efforts to fight back, with some being fed to a Force-eating Nameless creature. Only the younglings Gavi, Kildo, and Tep Tep survived, though deeply traumatized by what they witnessed. After surviving alone in Valo's mountains for a year, the three younglings returned to the city and introduced themselves to Jomaram, who was working as an anti-Nihil saboteur known as the "Scarlet Skull," and informed him of the deaths of the Valo Temple's Jedi Masters. In 228 BBY, Tep Tep and Kildo recalled seeing Valo's Jedi Masters being fed to Nameless during the Nihil's occupation, remembering with sadness how their teachers had turned to husks.

Powers and abilities

Being a member of the Jedi Order, Lege possessed Force-sensitive abilities and had undergone training to wield the Force.

Behind the scenes

Lege received a mention in Race to Crashpoint Tower, a junior novel penned by Daniel José Older as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project, released on June 29, 2021. Before its publication, the Jedi was mentioned in a preview included in the junior novel A Test of Courage, which was published on January 5 of the same year. The preview specified that Lege was performing a routine check of Lake Lonisa; however, in the final version of Race to Crashpoint Tower, the Jedi Master was instead preparing for Valo's festivities at the world's Jedi temple. Older confirmed on Twitter that all the Valo Temple's Jedi Masters, including Lege, died in the Nihil attack mentioned in The High Republic: Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel co-written by himself and Alyssa Wong as part of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic.
