Maediyu was a woman who became a member of the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, also known as Twilight Company. She joined from the planet Thession during the Galactic Civil War. In the year 3 ABY, she was assigned to guard duty at a jail cell that held the Imperial Governor Everi Chalis, who had defected. This cell was located on the CR90 corvette named Thunderstrike. During a fight with an Imperial reconnaissance squad, First Sergeant Hazram Namir saved Maediyu, and she started paying close attention to him.
While Twilight Company was on the planet Ankhural, Maediyu and some others were attacked. She came back to the company holding the skin from her cheek. When the company was on the warehouse world Mardona III, Maediyu supported Namir during a meeting with people living in a housing block, holding a gun. She also went with Namir and a group of fighters to get revenge for a dead soldier and some of his team. However, during Twilight Company's assault on the farming planet Nakadia, Maediyu was affected by the Empire's biological weapons. Namir stayed by her side as her organs turned to liquid, which caused her death.
During the Galactic Civil War, Maediyu enlisted in the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, otherwise referred to as Twilight Company, following a recruitment campaign on the world Thession. First Sergeant provided her training, but she was known to disregard his instructions. In 3 ABY, Everi Chalis, the governor of the Mid Rim planet Haidoral Prime, defected to Twilight Company. The governor was confined within a makeshift jail cell constructed from an airlock situated in section ten of the company's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike. After a rebel recruit from the planet tried to visit Chalis while armed with a kitchen knife, Namir ensured that a guard was stationed at Chalis's cell. Maediyu was assigned to this duty three days after Twilight Company departed from Haidoral Prime.
While Maediyu was guarding the cell, the Thunderstrike, along with its escort, the Braha'tok-class gunship Apailana's Promise, engaged in a fight against an Imperial reconnaissance squad. During the battle, the corvette's sudden movement caused Maediyu to lose consciousness in front of the airlock door, and a fire started in the nearby corridor. Sergeant Fektrin attempted to reach Maediyu, but when he couldn't, Namir hurried to the airlock. The first sergeant discovered Maediyu and pulled her into the makeshift jail cell, then sealed the door. Chalis reminded Namir that the airlock's oxygen was now being used by more individuals, but he reassured the governor that Maediyu was at least safer there.
After being rescued from the airlock, Maediyu was taken to the Thunderstrike's medical bay and placed in a bacta tank. Following her recovery, she became more attentive towards Namir, which he observed. After the first sergeant and two other soldiers were selected to accompany Chalis and Twilight Company's Captain Micha Evon, known as Howl, on a visit to the Alliance High Command's secret base, many Twilight soldiers bid farewell to Namir. Maediyu gave him a bottle of a strong drink, which he found helpful that night.
More than two weeks later, Twilight Company sought refuge on the planet Ankhural to repair their two ships. The commanding officers aboard the Thunderstrike had been killed when an Imperial infiltration team infiltrated the corvette while Namir and Chalis were returning with the news that Howl had died during their mission. During Twilight Company's time on Ankhural, several soldiers, including Maediyu, Twitch, and Jinsol, were attacked by individuals who Brand believed were the "real powers" of Ankhural wanting the company to leave. Maediyu returned to the rest of Twilight Company holding the skin of her cheek.
Soon after, Twilight Company launched Operation Ringbreaker. This campaign, devised by Chalis, targeted numerous Imperial installations along the Rimma Trade Route to force redeployments from the Kuat Drive Yards in preparation for a planned attack on the shipyards. The company first traveled to the warehouse planet Mardona III, where the soldiers planted ion mines along the tramways. Maediyu assisted Namir in planting some of the mines during these operations, providing him with boosts to reach high places and handing him rolls of tape when he was up there.
During their stay on Mardona III, Twilight Company utilized a housing block as a fallback position. To establish the new rules with the residents, Namir held a meeting with a select few, while the rest watched a broadcast. Maediyu stood behind the first sergeant, who was assumed to be the new captain, with a rifle ready to maintain order in the room. After Sergeant Pol Andrissus, known as Charmer, was killed along with two of his three squad mates by an Imperial vehicle, Maediyu joined Namir and several of Charmer's comrades in seeking revenge on the armored vehicle. The crew was killed, and the Imperial vehicle was destroyed.
Following two more battles, Twilight Company journeyed to the agricultural world Nakadia to destroy the plastoid factories located there. However, airspeeders were deployed from a warehouse carrying bioweapons. Maediyu was among the first to be affected by these chemical weapons, returning to the rest of the company with bloody eyes. Namir remained at her bedside in a medical tent as she experienced various symptoms, including bleeding, sweating, and bright rashes on her face. She even mistook the tentative captain for her mother. Maediyu eventually passed away after her organs liquefied. After more Twilight soldiers succumbed to the bioweapons, Namir led a team to destroy the warehouse.
Maediyu, a woman, had a tendency to ignore instructions during her training under Hazram Namir. After he saved her life, she became very attentive to the first sergeant and gave him a strong drink before he left for Hoth. The first sergeant eventually found her deference irritating. She also stood with Namir, armed with a rifle, during his meeting with residents of a housing block on Mardona III and joined a group of soldiers to avenge Charmer for him. While suffering from the chemical weapons used by the Empire on Nakadia, Maediyu thrashed in her bed and mistook Namir for her mother, forgetting his name.
Maediyu is a character in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, authored by Alexander Freed.
