Merratt Jaxton, a male Human, held the rank of General within the Galactic Alliance Starfighter Command. Furthermore, he served as the Chief of Starfighter Command in the era following the Second Galactic Civil War. Seemingly a loyal supporter of Natasi Daala, the Chief of State of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, as tensions rose between the Galactic Alliance and the New Jedi Order, he advocated for the prosecution of Cha Niathal. However, Jaxton soon became embroiled in a conspiracy aimed at ousting Daala and reinstating the Galactic Empire. Partially as a result of these actions, he became a member of the governing Triumvirate that took Daala's place.
Merrat Jaxton, a male Human, served within the Galactic Alliance Armed Forces. He attained the position of Chief of Starfighter Command during the period after the Second Galactic Civil War, a time when numerous former high-ranking officers required replacements. He maintained a close relationship with Natasi Daala, the Chief of State, and informed her of discontent within the Officer Corps regarding her handling of the growing tensions between the government and the Jedi Order. He suggested that she initiate an impartial prosecution of Cha Niathal for neglecting her duty during Darth Caedus's ascent to power during the Second Galactic Civil War. This recommendation aimed to appease the dissatisfied officers and demonstrate to the public that government officials faced the same scrutiny that led to the conviction of Grand Master Luke Skywalker, as both had committed the identical error of trusting Caedus.
Unbeknownst to Daala, Jaxton was conspiring with Haydnat Treen, a Kuati Senator, and Drikl Lecersen, a Moff, to overthrow Daala's administration and Jagged Fel, the High Moff of the Imperial Remnant. The ultimate goal involved restoring the former Galactic Empire by gradually merging the Alliance and Remnant to establish a new government. Once this new Empire materialized, Lecersen and Treen intended to govern the reinstated New Order as Emperor and Empress. Jaxton convened with Lecersen, Treen, and Senator Fost Bramsin to discuss the number of naval officers who would join their cause. This led to a discussion about the senior naval officer, Admiral Nek Bwua'tu, and the likelihood of his participation in the Chief of State's overthrow. However, his unwavering loyalty to Daala rendered him incorruptible, and while Lecersen preferred subtle methods to sway Bwua'tu, Jaxton proposed a straightforward assassination.
Jaxton found himself among those held hostage aboard the Errant Venture during the sabacc tournament. He expressed his displeasure due to his defeat by Wynn Dorvan. Upon his return to Coruscant, Daala personally debriefed him. Subsequently, he met with his fellow conspirators at a starfighter Holosimulator to discuss their future plans.
Following the Jedi's orchestrated coup d'état against Daala's regime, just as the conspirators were preparing to launch their own coup, Treen negotiated with Saba Sebatyne, the Acting Grand Master, to establish a coalition government. This strategy aimed to secure support from all branches of the government and military while maintaining their plans for a new Galactic Empire. The Senate approved the measure, leading to the suspension of the office of the Chief of State and its replacement with a Triumvirate for an indefinite period. The initial triumvirs consisted of Sebatyne, representing the Jedi; Treen, representing the Senate; and Jaxton, representing the military.
Later, Jaxton was removed from his position as triumvir and replaced by Wynn Dorvan, a former Chief of Staff under the Daala Administration and subsequently the first Triumvirate. When the conspiracy ultimately unraveled due to infiltration by the Lost Tribe of Sith, Jaxton became a liability, endangering the conspirators with his in-depth knowledge of the plot to recreate the original Galactic Empire. Consequently, General Stavin Thaal, a fellow conspirator, compelled Jaxton to commit suicide.
Jaxton, a Human male of average height, possessed a square physique that aligned with public expectations for a military leader. Senator Treen considered him handsome but also perceived him as frivolous. He demonstrated exceptional marksmanship, capable of accurately firing a blaster pistol from his hip at a target fifty meters away.
