During the Clone Wars, Petro, a male human Jedi youngling, served the Jedi Order. He participated in an ancient Jedi rite of passage called the Gathering to find a kyber crystal before the conflict's conclusion. This crystal was essential for building the lightsaber he would later construct after his visit to the planet of Ilum.
On Corellia, Petro was born. Due to his Force-sensitive nature, he was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to commence his Jedi training and learn about the Force.
Petro, recognized as one of the most talented in his group, was chosen alongside five other Jedi younglings: Ganodi, Byph, Katooni, Zatt, and Gungi. They journeyed to the sacred planet Ilum to participate in the Gathering, an age-old Jedi ritual. Upon entering the Crystal Cave to seek his crystal, Petro confidently located one he thought was his. However, it melted in his hand, revealing his haste. He initially walked away upon seeing Katooni trapped, but then realized he should assist. As he helped her use the Force to shatter the wall of ice blocking her, he saw his crystal returned from the cave.
After the Gathering's success, Petro and his fellow younglings went back to the Crucible. There, Petro displayed a technique he called the Whirlwind of Destiny, which seemed to be his own creation. Under the instruction of Professor Huyang, an Architect droid with over a thousand years of experience in teaching Jedi how to construct lightsabers, he presented various lightsaber models. He asked them to envision their desired lightsaber so they could finish its construction. Petro was the first to complete his saber, declaring to Zatt that he would use it to challenge Obi-Wan Kenobi to a duel and kill General Grievous. However, after Huyang's inspection, he pointed out that Petro would only harm himself because he had inverted the emitter matrix, causing the power grid to backfire. Huyang warned that activating the lightsaber would leave nothing but his crystal. Huyang instructed Petro to start again and carefully follow the diagram.
Before Petro or any other youngling could complete their lightsabers, Hondo Ohnaka and his pirate gang attacked. Huyang advised the younglings to hand over their crystals for safekeeping, but Petro secretly kept his. During the pirate attack, Petro activated his lightsaber, surprising everyone, and allowed a pirate to take it. When it malfunctioned and exploded, the group escaped, and Petro retrieved his crystal. Despite their efforts, Ahsoka was captured by the pirates and taken to their base on Florrum.
The damaged Crucible was left with Petro and the other younglings. Katooni managed to contact Master Kenobi, who told them to wait while he engaged Grievous and his fleet. Petro expressed his desire to help Ahsoka themselves, and many agreed, despite Katooni's disagreement. They then set off for Florrum to carry out a rescue mission. Upon landing, Ganodi stayed with Huyang to work on repairs, while the others headed towards the pirate base.
Petro and the others encountered Preigo's circus, which was on its way to perform for the pirates. Petro took charge, telling Preigo that they were acrobats. After impressing the Dug with their Force abilities, he allowed them to join the act. They traveled with the circus to Hondo's base and successfully rescued Ahsoka.
While training with their lightsabers outside the temple under Jedi Master Tera Sinube, Petro and some of his fellow younglings witnessed a duel between Anakin Skywalker and Barriss Offee. Barriss was the true perpetrator of the Bombing of the Jedi Temple hangar and had framed Ahsoka Tano. When Barriss knocked Anakin off a rooftop, he fell near the younglings' training area. Master Sinube immediately activated his lightsaber to protect himself and the younglings. Petro quickly warned Anakin about Barriss's impending attack. Anakin then defeated Barriss and took her into custody.
Petro, a male human (Corellian) Jedi youngling, was 1.26 meters (4 feet, 2 inches) in height. He had black [hair](/article/hair], green eyes, and tan skin. Petro aspired to become a renowned Jedi warrior, and his competitive nature often irritated his fellow clan members. He hastily assembled his lightsaber before any other youngling, incorrectly inverting the emitter matrix, which would have caused the power grid to backfire. Consequently, Professor Huyang instructed him to restart, emphasizing the importance of following directions in Jedi traditions.
