The Samix sector, a sector situated within the Outer Rim Territories, shared borders with the Merel, Skine, and Sujimis sectors. During the era known as the High Republic Era, this sector was part of the Galactic Republic's Galactic Frontier exploration zone. Following its formation in 230 BBY, the Samix sector was included within the Occlusion Zone, becoming one of the ten sectors isolated by a barrier that disrupted hyperspace travel.
A space sector in the [Outer Rim Territories](/article/outer_rim_territories], the Samix sector was known for its location. It adjoined the Merel, Skine, and Sujimis sectors.

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated the Samix sector, along with other areas of the Outer Rim, as the Galactic Frontier. This designation meant these locations were distant enough from the galaxy's core to warrant sending explorers. In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauder group created the Occlusion Zone. This zone was a region of space within the Outer Rim's Frontier, protected by the Stormwall barrier, which prevented hyperspace travel.
Being one of the ten sectors that formed the boundary of the Occlusion Zone, the Samix sector was severed from the rest of the Republic, and its inhabitants were compelled to pay tribute to the Nihil. Some weeks later, in 229 BBY, the Vurk Jedi Master Harli Cogra authored a book entitled Chronicles of the Jedi, which chronicled the Jedi of the High Republic Era. In the book's afterword, Cogra expressed his regret over the formation of the Nihil's zone and its impact on the ten sectors.

Within the established Star Wars canon, the initial mention of the ten sectors that would form the Occlusion Zone, though not yet identified by name, occurred in a flashback featured in the second issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm comic-book miniseries. Charles Soule wrote this issue, which Marvel Comics published on March 2, 2022 as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic project. The specific identification of the Samix sector as one of the Occlusion Zone sectors, along with its name, was later revealed through a map included in the first issue of the 2023 Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series. Daniel José Older wrote the issue, Harvey Tolibao and Nick Brokenshire provided the illustrations, and Dark Horse Comics published it on December 6, 2023, as part of Phase III.
The Samix sector first appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically in Galaxy Guide 11: Criminal Organizations. This 1994 sourcebook was written by Rick D. Stuart for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Subsequently, the StarWars.com Online Companion to The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, published on August 18, 2009, placed the Nedij system within the sector. The planet Nedij of that system had previously been depicted in a hologram in the 2008 novel Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight by Michael Reaves, thereby retroactively marking the Samix sector's initial full appearance. On September 10, 2009, the sector was visually represented for the first time on a map designed by Modi and featured in The Essential Atlas Extra: Outer Rim Sectors, a component of the Online Companion.
