The Scythe, a Phi-class shuttle, functioned as a command ship for the Inquisitorius within the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.

Serving the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, the Scythe was a Phi-class shuttle utilized by their Jedi hunters. Named in honor of the Sith whom the Inquisitors served, this streamlined starship possessed sharp angles and a threatening appearance. Outfitted with a hyperdrive and a pair of laser cannons, it was a formidable vessel.
The Inquisitors, under the command of Dark Lord of the Siths Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, utilized the Scythe as their mobile command ship. The ship served to transport Inquisitors back to their fortress on the moon of Nur and instill terror in those who aided Jedi fugitives.
Back in 19 BBY, the Grand Inquisitor and former Jedi Knight Iskat Akaris were transported via the Scythe to Bar'leth to acquire Jedi and Sith artifacts from Gamodar, a shopkeeper. Upon successfully completing their mission, they returned to Coruscant aboard the vessel.
At a later time, Akaris employed the shuttle for a visit to her homeworld of Pkori. Subsequently, she, along with a group of Purge Troopers, utilized the ship for transport to Firrhana during a hunt for Jedi.
The Grand Inquisitor piloted the Scythe during a space engagement with the Jedi fugitive Tensu Run.
In 9 BBY, the Grand Inquisitor, Third Sister, and Fifth Brother traveled to Tatooine aboard the Scythe in pursuit of the Jedi Nari.
Subsequently, during the Third Sister's hunt for Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Scythe transported her to the Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur, where she convened with the Fourth Sister and Fifth Brother to deliberate on her strategy, sanctioned by Darth Vader, to spearhead a hunt for Kenobi. Later on, the Third Sister, now holding the title of Grand Inquisitor, made use of the transport during the attack on Jabiim.

The initial depiction of the Scythe was in concept art showcased in the sizzle reel for the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, which was released on Disney+ in November of 2021. Its first appearance in the series was in the first episode, which aired on May 26 of 2022. It was officially identified through a LEGO set that featured the transport.
The initial scene filmed with Moses Ingram, the actress embodying the Third Sister, involved her and the other Inquisitors disembarking from the Scythe on Tatooine. During the filming of the scene, a physical ramp was utilized in front of a blue screen. Writer Joby Harold aimed for the scene to evoke a western ambiance, depicting three characters walking down the street amidst an atmosphere of intimidation. Doug Chiang characterized the ship as a "meaner version" of both Krennic's Imperial Shuttle and the Lambda-class shuttle.
