Suudaa Nem'ro, often referred to simply as Nem'ro (his cuirvas) , was a prominent crime lord of the Hutt species. He operated during the era defined by the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War that pitted the Galactic Republic against the reconstituted Sith Empire.
In the years leading up to his rise to power, Nem'ro demonstrated his shrewd leadership abilities within the gang factions of Jiguuna. Jiguuna was an industrial town located on Hutta, the adopted homeworld of the Hutts. A highly ambitious Hutt, he employed blackmail and ruthless cunning to systematically seize complete dominion over the town. His criminal ventures encompassed shvash gas mining, spice dealing, and weapons trafficking. This path to dominance inevitably created enemies, including the rival Hutt Voontara Fa'athra, known as "Huttsbane," and even the Black Sun criminal syndicate.
During the Cold War, his conflict with Fa'athra escalated to such a degree that Fa'athra dispatched forces to Jiguuna with the intent of disrupting Nem'ro's operations.
As is typical for Hutts who achieve the highest levels of success, Nem'ro delegated the daily management of his enterprises to subordinates. This allowed him to focus on indulging in food and festivities within his palace located on Nal Hutta. Among his closest associates for a period were his lieutenants Karrels Javis and Toth'lazhen, as well as Kaliyo Djannis, an enforcer, and Rex Geer, the leader of his street gang.
During the Cold War, his activities soon attracted the attention of the Sith Empire, who were particularly interested in his control over the gas industry. "Keeper", the spymaster of Imperial Intelligence, dispatched an operative to infiltrate Nem'ro's inner circle and secure his allegiance. The agent, assuming the persona of a space pirate known as the "Red Blade," successfully gained the trust of Nem'ro and his most trusted advisors, performing several tasks on their behalf.
Ultimately, the agent successfully turned Nem'ro against the Galactic Republic by falsely implicating them in the assassination of Karrels Javis and his bodyguards within Nem'ro's own palace. This was achieved by producing holodisc evidence to support the claim that the Republic had aided Fa'athra. As a result, Nem'ro reached out to nearby Sith embassies, and Keeper anticipated securing his alliance with the Empire within a month.
Nem'ro also became a sponsor for the protégé of Braden, the deceased bounty hunter. This sponsorship came after the protégé assisted the Hutt in his business dealings, eliminating several targets, and ultimately killing the Trandoshan hunter Rarsk in Fa'athra's Palace. The protégé then acquired the sponsorship token that Nem'ro had provided. Nem'ro's sponsored hunter would later emerge victorious in the competition.
Later events unveiled that Nem'ro had contracted a seemingly incurable disease. However, Doctor Archiban Kimble eventually developed a cure. Despite the doctor's efforts, Nem'ro was ultimately assassinated by Skadge. The Houk, having escaped from Belsavis, tracked Nem'ro down and ended his life.
The first mention of Nem'ro the Hutt occurred in a development diary released by BioWare for the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. He later appeared in the introductory storylines for both the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent classes on Nal Hutta.
On the official website, Nem'ro's biography page included several phrases written in Aurebesh. These phrases, when translated, read "Supports Hutt Cartel Neutrality," "Houk and Rattataki Bodyguards," and "Betrayed Skadge."
