During the Clone Wars, Torrent Company was an elite unit of clone troopers within the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic. Clone Captain Rex commanded them, acting as the direct subordinate to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker. Throughout the conflict, the company participated in numerous battles against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, notably the Battle of Christophsis and the Battle of Teth.
As part of the 501st Legion, the clone troopers of Torrent Company were deployed to the contested planet of Christophsis during the Clone Wars. This war was a widespread conflict across the galaxy between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Under the leadership of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his second-in-command, Clone Captain Rex, Torrent Company engaged the Separatist Droid Army in an effort to retake control of the planet. In this campaign, they fought alongside the troopers of the 212th Attack Battalion.
During the Battle of Christophsis, Torrent Company suffered significant casualties while defending the AV-7 Anti-vehicle Artillery Cannons from Separatist forces protected by a deflector shield. This allowed Skywalker and his new apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, to penetrate enemy lines and deactivate the shield generator. With the shield down, the heavy cannons destroyed the Armored Assault Tanks. Subsequently, the arrival of Republic reinforcements, commanded by Grand Master Yoda of the Jedi Order, led to the surrender of the remaining Separatist forces on Christophsis.
Following the Republic's triumph on Christophsis, General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Skywalker, his mentor, were dispatched by Yoda to investigate the kidnapping of Rotta, the son of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, a Hutt crime lord. Skywalker and Torrent Company's search for the Huttlet brought them to Teth, a planet in Wild Space. They launched an attack on the B'omarr Order Monastery, but Asajj Ventress and two Separatist battalions overwhelmed them. While Skywalker and Tano rescued Rotta, Rex and the remaining soldiers of Torrent Company continued to fight the battle droids. Although Skywalker and his apprentice couldn't help the clones because of the mission's importance, Kenobi and the 212th's arrival swung the battle in the Republic's favor.
Later in the Clone Wars, Torrent Company was involved in the Battle of Horain against the Separatists. During the engagement, Rex and Torrent Company discovered some Horian children in a crater. After helping them to safety, Rex became separated from his unit, leaving him alone. After trying to contact Skywalker, Rex received assistance from Kenobi, who rescued him while they were surrounded by B1-series battle droids. During the resulting fight, the Separatist droid B1-0516 sustained damage to its central processing unit, which caused it to malfunction. As a result, it started assisting Rex and Kenobi, and after being briefly captured, they went back to Republic forces.
In his description of "Darkness on Umbara," an art piece for Celebration Japan 2025, artist Joe Hogan identified the clone trooper detachment under Rex's command during the Battle of Umbara as Torrent Company. While Hogan's comment was published on StarWars.com, no canonical source has specifically identified any formations in the battle as Torrent Company. In the episode "Darkness on Umbara," the 501st unit is only identified as a battalion-strength grouping, which could be made up of four companies according to standard GAR procedure.
