Unidentified Jedi Master (Kamino)

During the Clone Wars, a Jedi Master of humanoid form served within the ranks of the Jedi Order. As the war drew to a close, this Jedi found themselves stationed within Tipoca City, which is the planetary capital of Kamino. This planet is noteworthy as the place where the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic were created. When Darth Sidious initiated Order 66, a clandestine directive that branded all Jedi as traitors and mandated their execution, this Jedi was among those who met their death. Subsequently, members of the Clone Force 99 clone commando unit—most of whom were immune to Order 66 as a result of genetic defects or cybernetics—witnessed the Jedi Master's lifeless body being transported through landing bay one-tac-one by Coruscant Guard shock troopers upon their return to Tipoca City, and observed the fallen Jedi's lightsaber slip from their grasp.

Biography

During the Republic Era's final years and the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a Jedi Master faithfully served the Jedi Order. In 19 BBY, as the conflict neared its conclusion, this Jedi was assigned to Tipoca City, the capital city situated on the extragalactic planet of Kamino. This planet was the original home of the Kaminoans, the species responsible for the cloning of the clone troopers that comprised the Grand Army of the Republic. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, who knew that the clone army had been commissioned by the deceased Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the [Sith](/article/sith], their ancient adversaries, had secretly hijacked the clones' creation, engineering them to execute the Jedi through the implementation of Order 66, a clandestine command that also labeled all Jedi as traitors. When Darth Sidious, publicly known as the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, gave the order, the Jedi Master became one of the many victims, perishing with their lightsaber still clutched in their hand.

The Jedi's lightsaber falls from their hand

Shortly after Order 66 was executed, Clone Force 99, an unconventional clone commando unit known informally as the "Bad Batch," made their return to Kamino following a battle on Kaller. Four of the squad's five members possessed immunity to the mind control effects of Order 66, which was because of their status as either genetically defective clones or their possession of extensive cybernetic enhancements. Consequently, they found themselves deeply perplexed by the unfolding events, having previously witnessed the murder of Jedi Master Depa Billaba at the hands of her own troops. Upon landing their starship, the Marauder, in landing bay one-tac-one, the commandos were immediately struck by the presence of Coruscant Guard shock troopers. Shortly after, they noticed two troopers carrying the Jedi Master's body, covered in cloth, through the hangar on a stretcher. The Jedi's left hand, still gripping their lightsaber, slipped from beneath the shroud, causing the weapon to fall to the floor. A nearby shock trooper officer retrieved the lightsaber, and then pointedly questioned Clone Sergeant Hunter, the leader of the Batch, about whether there was a problem, given the way he and his squad were staring. Hunter responded that there was no problem, and the officer declared that there would be a mandatory briefing at 1500 before departing, following the troopers carrying the body.

Behind the scenes

The Jedi Master made an appearance, albeit without identification, as a corpse in "Aftermath," the inaugural episode of the animated television series Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The episode premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2021. Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo later disclosed that the Jedi Master was a newly created character whose name had been included in the episode's script. However, Hidalgo refrained from revealing the name, expressing his preference for someone more closely involved with the show to share that information.
