A quartermaster for the shock troopers was a member of the Coruscant Guard within the Galactic Republic's military branch during the period of the Clone Wars. In 19 BBY, after the conclusion of the conflict, the quartermaster, along with a number of other shock troopers, found themselves stationed on their homeworld of Kamino following the activation of Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. While on Kamino, they were responsible for overseeing various operations, including the movement of the deceased body of a Jedi Master through a hangar bay located in Tipoca City. Moreover, subsequent to the Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire, an event during which the officer remained in service, the trooper provided an escort for Imperial Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin during his visit to Kamino for the purpose of assessing the clone army's ongoing production and its continued utility to the Imperial Army.
Subsequently, the quartermaster had an encounter with the soldiers of Clone Force 99, who believed they were about to receive a reprimand, but instead, they received orders to report to the Tipoca City Training Facility for a combat evaluation by Tarkin. Soon after their assessment, during which Clone Force 99 chose not to comply with Imperial directives, the officer and their troopers were dispatched to Clone Force's living quarters to collect their equipment, where they proceeded to take into custody the female clone Omega and the medical droid AZI-3. Upon the return of the commandos to Kamino, the quartermaster, along with a group of shock troopers, assisted Tarkin in apprehending the rogue soldiers.

A clone trooper was born on the planet of Kamino, created using the genetic material of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, who functioned as the clone template for the Grand Army of the Republic. By the time 19 BBY arrived, during the Clone Wars, this trooper had been assigned to the Galactic Republic's Coruscant Guard, where they held the dual roles of shock trooper and quartermaster for the corps stationed on Coruscant. In that year, following the war's conclusion with the death of Separatist Head of State and Supreme Martial Commander General Grievous, they, along with the rest of the clone army, received explicit instructions from Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine to execute Order 66. This order led to the galaxy-wide termination of the Jedi Order.
In the wake of the systematic Jedi Purge, hundreds of clone troopers received orders to return to their planet of origin, Kamino; this group included the quartermaster and a contingent of shock troopers. As the officer walked among a squad of troopers in a Tipoca City landing bay, they came across the genetically defective clone commandos of Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch. The Bad Batch had just arrived on Kamino aboard the Omicron-class attack shuttle called the Marauder, following an operation on the planet Kaller. As the Bad Batch expressed confusion regarding the presence of the Coruscant Guard and the unfolding events, having overheard a level five containment announcement, the quartermaster approached them. The quartermaster then explained that Grievous had been killed on Utapau and that the Separatist command structure had collapsed, resulting in the complete destruction of the Confederacy.

Still suspicious of their fellow troopers, the Bad Batch noticed the dead body of a Jedi Master being transported past them. The clone officer then saw the corpse drop a [lightsaber](/article/lightsaber] on the ground, which was immediately picked up. The quartermaster then stood back up and observed the alarmed expressions of the commandos, and inquired if there was an issue. After the squad reassured the officer that everything was fine, they headed towards their barracks. However, the quartermaster advised them to hurry, as a mandatory general assembly regarding the state of the Republic was scheduled for 1500 hours. During the assembly, the entire clone army witnessed a special session taking place in the Galactic Senate, during which Chancellor Palpatine addressed what he termed a Jedi rebellion aimed at overthrowing the Republic. He announced that, to ensure galactic security and stability, the Republic was being reorganized into the Galactic Empire, with himself as the Galactic Emperor.

In the days after the Republic's transformation, the clone troopers were now serving as the Empire's stormtroopers. At this time, the regime began formulating plans to discontinue the ongoing production of clones for the Imperial Army, with the goal of eventually replacing them with a more economical army composed of conscripted soldiers. During this period, the shock trooper quartermaster departed from the cloning planet, only to return later aboard an Imperial Nu-class shuttle, escorting Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin. Tarkin had arrived to assess the clone army and confer with Kaminoan Prime Minister Lama Su regarding the former Republic's contracts with the Kaminoan government. Seeking a comprehensive evaluation, Admiral Tarkin summoned the troopers of Clone Force 99, although the squad initially assumed they were being punished for a prior altercation in the cafeteria. On their way, the squad encountered the quartermaster in a corridor, who redirected them to the training facility. The officer further clarified to the confused clones that Tarkin had requested them for a combat proficiency test as part of his evaluation, and instructed them to prepare accordingly.
After successfully completing the training simulation, an impressed Tarkin presented Clone Force 99 with an assignment to eliminate a group of insurgents led by Saw Gerrera, who were located in the Onderon sector. Despite the targets being labeled as Separatist forces, the commandos refused to carry out their assignment. Having been informed of the squad's failure via a probe droid, the quartermaster and a pair of white-armored clone troopers were instructed to retrieve Clone Force 99's gear from their barracks and transport it to the hangar bay. Upon entering the barracks, however, the officer and their men encountered the young female clone named Omega and the AZ-series medical droid AZI-3, neither of whom had authorization to be in the barracks. While the troopers packed the gear, the quartermaster seized Omega and attempted to remove her, but was briefly halted by AZI-3, who explained that the Empire lacked authority over them due to their affiliation with the Kaminoan government. Annoyed by the droid touching their arm, the officer blasted and stunned AZI-3, after which the trooper dragged Omega away and placed her in a Kaminoan [prison](/article/prison] cell.

With plans to arrest Clone Force 99 for failing in their mission, the quartermaster and a team of shock troopers positioned themselves strategically throughout a hangar bay where the approaching Marauder and squad were expected to land. After the clone commandos entered the hangar, the quartermaster and their fellow troopers emerged from behind the containers in the bay, surrounding the squad. As the Bad Batch was held at gunpoint, Tarkin entered the hangar and asserted that the Empire would not tolerate failure and treasonous collaboration with Saw Gerrera, ordering their arrest and imprisonment in the brig. Escorted to the prison by the quartermaster and the other troopers, the Bad Batch soon realized that the holding cell was a retrofitted facility and began plotting their escape. The squad then successfully escaped from both the cell and Kamino, along with Omega, but without their squadmate Crosshair, who had demonstrated loyalty to the Empire.

The shock trooper quartermaster, a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, was a human standing at a height of 1.83 meters (6 ft, weighing eighty kilograms, and possessing tan skin. Known for their stern and direct manner of speaking, they harbored both a dislike for droids and a lack of concern for personnel and property not affiliated with the Empire. When the droid AZI-3 attempted to prevent them from arresting Omega, citing their status as Kaminoan government personnel, the officer became frustrated and angrily addressed AZI-3 as "droid" instead of using his name, before stunning him in response to being touched.
As a military officer and quartermaster, they were responsible for a variety of duties for both the Republic and the Empire. They were also capable of leading and commanding other clone troopers, including Clone Sergeants and those within and outside of the Coruscant Guard. Furthermore, the quartermaster also served as an escort for high-ranking officers.

From birth, like all other clone troopers, the quartermaster had been implanted by Kaminoan scientists with a behavioral modification biochip to ensure the trooper's compliance with specific orders. The quartermaster wore a set of Phase II clone trooper armor that included an integrated comlink on the right arm and a scrambler capable of utilizing all Republic communications protocols. The armor, distinguished by bright red markings indicating service to the Coruscant Guard, was further adorned with a red pauldron on the left shoulder, signifying their position as a military officer.
In addition to a datapad, the quartermaster was armed with a standard-issue DC-15A blaster carbine and a DC-17 hand blaster kept in a holster on their right thigh. On the back of their utility belt, they also carried a single N-20 Baradium-core thermal detonator.
The shock trooper quartermaster made their initial appearance as an unnamed character in "Aftermath," which was the debut episode of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated television series' first season. This episode aired on May 4, 2021, via the streaming service Disney+. Prior to the episode's release, the quartermaster was featured in a trailer for the show that was released on March 30 of that year. As with the other clone troopers in both Star Wars: The Bad Batch and its predecessor, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the shock trooper was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. According to Lucasfilm Story Group executive Pablo Hidalgo, the clone trooper was identified in the episode's script as a quartermaster.
