Wind was an ecumenopolis that existed as a desert planet located within the Aakaash system. Serving as the economic heart of the star system, Wind was controlled by the Land & Sky Corporation. It possessed approximately 60% of the system's total wealth and featured a sprawling, vibrant city that encompassed the majority of the planet. This city was home to most of the world's inhabitants, representing almost half of the entire system's population. The remaining regions of the planet consisted of desolate deserts and desiccated oceans, where scattered settlements, repurposed from derelict cities and towns, could be found. Abandoned mineral mines were scattered across the planet's surface, with a forsaken capital situated just outside Wind's primary urban center.
One of these desert settlements served as the base of operations for the Knights of Silver Dawn, a group of mercenaries driven by profit. A portion of their earnings was used to support their impoverished human community on Wind. Furthermore, the Knights provided resources to other settlements located in Wind's wastelands, including spring village. The Knights' settlement did not suffer from water shortages, as it was originally established as an artificial oasis.
Colonists originating from Land, led by the Nan family, were the first to settle the planet. The initiative was planned following a meeting held at Lake 101. During this period, Wind was still covered in primeval forests.
Near the conclusion of the High Republic Era, a newly developed biological water purification technology relied on enigmatic tenebrae as its core component. However, enigmatic tenebrae posed a significant biological threat; a single drop could contaminate an entire water table and cause the death of hundreds of thousands of individuals. Around 200 BBY, Light Han City, located in Wind's southern region, had recently transitioned to the new water purification system and depended on the Knights to transport a shipment of enigmatic tenebrae from Land, the capital of the Aakaash system.
Li Yu, the leader of the Knights, dispatched the elite red apricot squad to manage the situation. Departing from their underground base on Wind, the squad tracked the missing shipment to Fire, a space station city that had been functioning as a crucial transit hub between Wind and Land for two thousand years. However, they discovered that the Jade Rats had pilfered the shipment and sold it to the Blue Dragon pirates. This led the red apricot squad, which included An Ping, Lu Nan, Xu Bo, Zhuang Yuanying, and Sean, to raid an asteroid stronghold affiliated with the Blue Dragon, located in the nearby Lake asteroid field.
In the original Chinese, the planet's name was "巽" (Pinyin: xùn), which translates to "wind" and is associated with the I Ching trigram ☴.
