YV-865 Aurore-class freighter

The YV-865 Aurore-class freighter, manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, was a freighter model renowned for its extreme durability. Because the Zygerrian Slave Empire utilized them extensively, they gained the common name of Zygerrian slave ships.

Characteristics

Aurore-class freighters of the YV-865 type were sizable and boxy spacecraft that featured capacious cargo bays, offering enough room for a blixus or, as was the case with the Zygerrians, a large number of slaves. The twin thruster engines, which delivered substantial power, were mounted on articulated boom arms extending from both sides of the primary hull of the ship, though they were considered outdated during the Clone Wars time period. During landing, these boom arms retracted, utilizing the engines as landing supports. Despite its considerable dimensions and substantial cargo capacity, a single pilot could effectively manage the vessel. The freighter was equipped with a single escape pod located in the upper rear section for use in emergency situations.

History

During the Clone Wars, the Zygerrian Slave Empire employed it as a slave transport, which led to its popular nickname. The storage bays were modified to hold living cargo. A reddish-colored Zygerrian slave ship, the Tecora, was captained by Darts D'Nar, a Zygerrian enslaver. Another vessel, Delta-T-3, served as a slave transport, carrying Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rex, and Gupat Roshti as captives to the facility located on Kadavo.

However, the Zygerrian Slave Empire was not the only entity to use it; it also functioned as a general-purpose freighter throughout the galaxy. The Banking Clan owned one at the Cybloc Transfer Station, as did Preigo and his traveling circus.

In later years, the Mining Guild also utilized these vessels. An Aurore-class freighter, accompanied by a pair of Mining Guild TIE fighters, patrolled the Sereeda Waypoint two years prior to the Battle of Yavin when they encountered a rebel attack shuttle.

During 35 ABY, at least one Aurore-class freighter participated in the Battle of Exegol as part of the Citizens' Fleet, fighting against the Sith Eternal alongside the Resistance.
