Bothan Space

The Bothan sector, alternatively referred to as Bothan Space, was a sector situated within the Mid Rim region. Among the planets found in Bothan Space were Mandell, Sennatt, Torolis, Bothawui, Krant, and Kothlis.

Description

Within Bothan Space were approximately 150 inhabited star systems, the majority of which were controlled by Bothan colonists. The Bothan Council, consisting of representatives from numerous Bothan clans, governed the sector.

The Bothan Border marked the outer limits of Bothan Space.

History

Sometime between 17,000 BBY and 12,000 BBY, Bothan Space became part of the Galactic Republic. It held the designation of Allied Region, which allowed it to maintain a degree of autonomy from the Republic.

In 11,198 BBY, the Twenty-Third Pius Dea Crusade impacted the region.

Prior to the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Knol Ven'nari rescued the entire sector from Wookiee raiders. During the Clone Wars period, Jedi General Etain Tur-Mukan operated in the vicinity of the Bothan sector.

During the Imperial Period, the Galactic Empire permitted Bothan Space to keep its status as an Allied Region, functioning as an Imperial client state. However, the Empire kept a close watch on the Bothans and their aspirations. In 18 BBY, the sector faced an invasion by Separatist holdouts until the Empire liberated it. During the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance had an active Bothan Sector Force within the sector. In the early years of the Galactic Civil War, individuals boarding flights to Bothan Space at Spaceport THX1138 were required to present their Imperial authorization form before boarding.

Polo Se'lab represented the sector in the Galactic Senate, while Borsk Fey'lya served on the New Republic Provisional Council. Mak Sezala was the sector's representative in the New Republic Senate.
