Biker Advanced Recon Commandos, also known as BARC troopers, were elite clone troopers within the Grand Army of the Republic, functioning as special forces. These troopers underwent specialized training to operate BARC speeders across treacherous terrains and hazardous combat zones. To maintain focus at high velocities, BARC troopers utilized a specialized version of clone trooper armor designed to minimize distractions by concentrating their field of vision. Towards the conclusion of the Clone Wars, BARC troopers, serving under the command of Jedi General Stass Allie and Clone Commander Neyo, were deployed on the planet of Saleucami. While conducting a patrol on a speeder bike, Neyo received Order 66 from Sheev Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, compelling him to target his commanding officer. Consequently, Allie, like the majority of Jedi scattered across the galaxy, met her death at the hands of her own troops.
BARC troopers were specialized ARC troopers with expertise in piloting speeder bikes. Reconnaissance missions were their common assignments, but they were also capable of acting as cavalry support for allies or spearheading advances for ARF troopers or AT-RTs. Renowned for their speed and boasting the quickest reaction times in the clone army, BARC troopers also possessed proficiency in armed and unarmed combat, complemented by a strong understanding of military tactics.
Similar to other clone troopers, BARC troopers stood at a height of 1.83 meters, equivalent to 6 feet. In the year 19 BBY, BARC troopers within the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps were positioned on Saleucami during the Outer Rim Sieges of the Clone Wars. As Clone Commander Neyo traversed the planet's landscape on a BARC speeder, he received Order 66 from Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Galactic Republic. Due to their behavioral modification biochips, which compelled obedience, he and his wingman engaged Jedi General Stass Allie's speeder, resulting in the vehicle's destruction and the death of the Jedi. Following the execution of Order 66, Commander Neyo and his forces transitioned to serving the newly established Galactic Empire, which replaced the Republic after Order 66 and the commencement of the Great Jedi Purge. The BARC troopers of the 91st Recon Corps subsequently joined the ranks of the new Imperial Army.
BARC troopers were outfitted with a specialized iteration of standard clone trooper armor. The helmet design focused the wearer's attention forward, mitigating distractions that could prove perilous at high velocities. Clone troopers riding BARC speeders, wearing armor similar to, but distinct from, the Phase II BARC trooper armor, participated in a battle on Saleucami occurring between 21 BBY and 20 BBY.
The image depicting BARC troopers in the reference book Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Character Encyclopedia - Join the Battle! illustrates Jesse on Saleucami, transporting an injured Rex. Although Jesse was later promoted to ARC trooper, he was never observed wearing BARC trooper armor. Rex, Jesse, Kix, and Hardcase all operated BARC speeders during the Battle of Saleucami, but they were not designated as BARC troopers.
