Bothan Space

Bothan Space, also called the Bothan sector, existed within the Mid Rim and was classified as a sector. Among the planets found in Bothan Space were Bothawui, Mandell, Sennatt, Torolis, Krant, and Kothlis.

Description

Roughly 150 inhabited star systems comprised Bothan Space. The majority of these systems were under the control of Bothan colonists. Governance was provided by the Bothan Council, which consisted of representatives hailing from numerous Bothan clans.

The Bothan Border was the term used to describe the outer limits of Bothan Space.

History

Between 17,000 BBY and 12,000 BBY, Bothan Space became a member of the Galactic Republic. It was designated as an Allied Region, which afforded it a degree of autonomy within the Republic.

The Twenty-Third Pius Dea Crusade impacted the area in 11,198 BBY.

Prior to the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Knol Ven'nari famously rescued the whole sector from Wookiee marauders. During the Clone Wars period, Jedi General Etain Tur-Mukan conducted operations in the vicinity of the Bothan sector.

During the Imperial Period, the Galactic Empire permitted Bothan Space to maintain its status as an Allied Region, functioning as an Imperial client state. However, the Empire maintained close scrutiny of the Bothans and their goals. The Separatist holdouts invaded the sector in 18 BBY, until the Empire liberated it. The Rebel Alliance's Bothan Sector Force was active in the sector throughout the Galactic Civil War. During the early Galactic Civil War era, individuals boarding flights headed to Bothan Space at Spaceport THX1138 needed to present their Imperial authorization form before being allowed to board.

Polo Se'lab represented the sector in the Galactic Senate. Borsk Fey'lya served as its representative on the New Republic Provisional Council, and Mak Sezala held the sector's seat in the New Republic Senate.
