Plot summary

Opening Scene

The episode commences with mercenaries activating the alarm at Calodan's entrance on planet Corvus. Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi, engages in combat with Scout Guards outside the city, brandishing her two white lightsabers. She uses the Force to snap a small branch, diverting their attention as she appears and disappears into the fog, incapacitating numerous enemies during their retreat. She confronts Morgan Elsbeth, also referred to as The Magistrate, demanding the information she holds regarding Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The Magistrate declines, offering to protect the city's residents in exchange for peace. Tano retorts that the people are already suffering under her command and delivers her own condition: the Magistrate's surrender or facing the consequences. She grants the Magistrate a day to decide before departing. Lang, the gunslinger, assures the Magistrate that he and his forces will be prepared for Tano's return. The Magistrate instructs her guards to confine a male prisoner, who had been brought to the battlements during the negotiation with Tano.

Arrival on Corvus

Din Djarin prepares for landing as the Razor Crest emerges from hyperspace above Corvus. One half of the planet is lush and green, while the other is shrouded in darkness with red marks. He instructs the Child to sit still for the landing. Despite Djarin's repeated instructions, the Child uses the Force to remove the ball from the joystick. The Razor Crest flies over the city and lands in the nearby forest. Djarin takes back the joystick ball and hides it under his armor.

After the Razor Crest has landed, the Child follows Djarin down the ramp. Djarin tells the Child to stay on the ship because he has never worked with a Jedi before. Because the Child is so persistent, Djarin changes his mind and decides to bring him along because he thinks the Child can help them find a lead.

Encountering the Magistrate

With the Child concealed beneath his cloak, Djarin approaches the city gate. Lang, the gunslinger, identifies him as a Mandalorian hunter and permits him entry after Djarin confirms his affiliation with the Bounty Hunters' Guild. As Djarin traverses the streets of Corvus, he observes the citizens' poverty and despair. An 8D-series smelter droid passes by him.

Djarin seeks information about the Jedi from a vendor named Wing. Wing sends his children away and begs the Mandalorian not to talk to them. Two armored mercenaries approach Djarin and summon him to meet with the Magistrate. The mercenaries lead Djarin along the main street, where several residents are being tortured in electrocution cages.

A guard admits Djarin and the Child through a second set of gates, leading them into a villa with a bridge and moat. The Magistrate invites Djarin to approach, inquiring if he is a Mandalorian. Upon confirmation, the Magistrate reveals her desire for him to eliminate a Jedi who is causing problems. When Djarin indicates the difficulty of the task, the Magistrate attempts to use the historical conflict between the Mandalorians and the Jedi. Djarin responds that his price is high.

A droid servant hands the Magistrate a beskar spear, which she presents to Djarin. After Djarin verifies the staff's pure beskar composition by striking it against his armor, the Magistrate offers the weapon in exchange for finding the Jedi. Djarin asks about the Jedi's location.

Later, Lang escorts Djarin and the Child out of the city gate. Noticing the Child in the Mandalorian's pouch, he inquires about it. Djarin replies that he keeps it for luck. Lang remarks that the Mandalorian will need a lot of luck where he is going.

Meeting with a Jedi

Djarin ventures into the forest in search of Tano, guided by the Magistrate's coordinates. While examining the trails through his helmet visor, he instructs the Child to stay alert. He places the Child on a rock and scans the area with his rifle scope after hearing a sound, dismissing it as a false alarm upon seeing indigenous beasts in the distance.

Suddenly, Djarin is ambushed by Tano, who is wielding a lightsaber. Djarin blocks the lightsaber strikes with his Mandalorian vambraces and forces Ahsoka to retreat by deploying his wrist-mounted flamethrower, burning her cloak. Djarin manages to trap her with his whipcord. However, Tano escapes by using a force jump, flinging Djarin midair using a branch as a pulley and forces him to detach the whipcord, freeing herself. Djarin lands on the ground and draws his blaster. Before the fight can begin, he tells Tano that Bo-Katan Kryze sent him, which stops the fight.

Seeing the Child, Tano says she hopes that it is about the Child. She seems surprised and happy.

The Unveiling

Later that evening, Tano and the Child are sitting in a clearing near a lantern. She uses the Force to talk to the Child, learning important things about his past. After taking the Child to another clearing, she tells Djarin that the Child's name is Grogu. She says that he was raised in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant before the Clone Wars and that many Jedi Masters taught him how to use the Force. He was taken from the Temple and hidden from the Galactic Empire for many years, and his memories of that time are dark and full of fear. Tano also says that she has only met one other person of his species, the Jedi Grand Master Yoda.

When Tano asks if Grogu can still use the Force, Djarin asks if she means his powers. Tano explains that the Child gets his power from the Force, which she says is an energy field made by all living things. She says that it takes a lot of training and discipline to use it. Djarin says that he has seen Grogu do things that he can't explain and that he was supposed to bring him to a Jedi. Tano explains that the Jedi Order is gone. Din says that the Empire is also gone, but it is still after Grogu. Djarin tells Tano that Grogu needs her help. Tano talks to the Child using telepathy and says that she will test him in the morning.

Testing Grogu's Abilities

The next morning, Tano leads Din and Grogu to a green forest clearing and asks Djarin to put the Child down. Tano picks up a small stone and uses the Force to lift it into the air, passing it to Grogu. However, Grogu refuses to give it back as Tano asked. Djarin worries that Grogu doesn't understand her, but Tano assures him that he does before repeating her command. Grogu looks at Tano but drops the stone on purpose.

Holding Grogu's hand, Tano senses a lot of fear in the Child. She tells Djarin that Grogu has been hiding his abilities to survive over the years. Knowing that Grogu listens to Djarin, she gets him to ask the Child to bring the stone to him. Tano tells Djarin to connect with the Child. Taking a deep breath, Djarin gets the joystick ball that the Child was playing with earlier. Djarin convinces the Child to take the joystick with the Force, telling him that he wants it. Grogu uses the Force to take the joystick ball from Djarin after he calls him by his name.

Tano sees that Grogu is very attached to Djarin, which makes it hard for her to train him. Feeling lost, Djarin insists that Tano train him. Tano disagrees, saying that she has seen what fear and anger can do to a fully-trained Jedi Knight, indirectly referring to her former master Anakin Skywalker, who as Darth Vader, was seduced by Emperor Palpatine by using his attachments. Not wanting the Child to go down this road, she decides that it is better to let Grogu's abilities fade away.

Forming an Alliance

Tano says that she has waited too long and needs to go back to the walled village of Calodan. Djarin says that the Magistrate sent him to kill her, but he didn't agree to it. He promises to help her get rid of the Magistrate if she makes sure that Grogu is trained properly. Djarin also tells Tano about the magistrate, saying that she has a small army of guards with A350 blaster rifles, two HK-87 assassin droids, and a hired gunfighter. Djarin thinks the gunfighter is ex-military and that Tano is outmatched even with her Force powers. Tano agrees and warns Djarin not to underestimate the Magistrate.

Djarin asks Tano who the Magistrate is and says that she offered him a staff of pure beskar to kill Tano. Tano tells him that the Magistrate is named Morgan Elsbeth, and her people were killed during the Clone Wars. Elsbeth survived and used her anger to build an industry that made the Imperial Navy. Tano explains that Elsbeth has destroyed worlds and taken their resources. Djarin says that Elsbeth is still in business. When Tano asks if he saw any prisoners, Djarin remembers seeing three prisoners hanging outside the inner gate. Tano says that they need to find a way to free them. Djarin agrees that their enemies will never expect a Mandalorian and a Jedi to fight together.

Freeing Calodan

Later that evening, Elsbeth's mercenaries guard the gate and fortifications of Corvus. Tano comes out of the mist outside the city gates and ignites her lightsabers. The mercenaries sound the alarm and try to shoot her down with their blaster rifles. Using her Force powers, she runs up the battlements, dodging blaster fire and cutting down several mercenaries. She also cuts the bell in half and lands on the other end of the gate. The citizens and mercenaries gather to watch the fight.

Walking towards the Magistrate and her private army, Tano throws Djarin's pauldron with his signet on the ground, saying that she defeated the bounty hunter. Tano again asks where the Magistrate's master is. Elsbeth refuses and orders her men to kill Tano. She jumps onto the roof while the mercenaries open fire, deflecting the blaster bolts easily before disappearing into the alleys. The Magistrate tells Lang to hunt her down with her two HK-87 assassin droids and tells her men to kill the prisoners before retreating into her mansion.

Before the mercenaries can kill the prisoners, Djarin lands with his jetpack and quickly defeats the executioners, telling Wing to free them and take them to safety. Tano quickly kills the mercenaries in the alleys and destroys one of the assassin droids. Lang tells the remaining HK-87 droid to climb onto the roofs before he faces Djarin and Tano in a standoff. After destroying Lang's blaster, Tano leaves Lang to Djarin as she climbs over the wall into the walled compound to fight the Magistrate.

The Magistrate is a worthy opponent against the former Jedi, using her Beskar staff against Tano's dual lightsabers. The two fight while Djarin and Lang continue their standoff, with Lang trying to get Djarin to change sides. The Magistrate briefly gains the upper hand by knocking Tano's single-bladed lightsaber into the water. However, Tano gains the upper hand when she switches to her signature reverse-grip, allowing her to disarm Elsbeth.

Outside, Lang realizes that his master has been defeated and pretends to surrender, trying to kill Djarin with his blaster pistol. However, Djarin knows what he is going to do and shoots him down with his IB-94 blaster. Then, the surviving assassin droid appears on the roof, but Djarin destroys it before it can attack, thanks to Wing's warning. Inside the compound, Tano holds the Magistrate against the blade of her shoto lightsaber. Tano again demands that she give up the information on the whereabouts of her master: Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Saying Goodbye

After the Magistrate's army is defeated, the people of Calodan celebrate the liberation of their city. Tano and Djarin talk outside the gate, where Tano offers him the Beskar spear as a reward. Djarin first refuses, but then accepts it for the Mandalorians who should have it. When Tano asks where his little friend is, Djarin says that Grogu is back at the ship. Tano then walks with Wing, the new governor of Calodan.

He goes back to the Razor Crest to get Grogu and say goodbye, planning to put him under Tano's care. He hugs the sleeping infant as Tano arrives at the bay door. Tano tells Djarin that he is like a father to Grogu. While Tano refuses to train Grogu, she tells Djarin to take him to the seeing stone on the planet Tython, a place with a strong connection to the Force where Grogu can decide what he wants to do. She also says that other Jedi might come looking for Grogu if they sense him through the Force.

Tano warns Djarin that there are not many Jedi left. Djarin thanks Tano, and she wishes him well. She smiles as Djarin walks onto the Razor Crest's ramp. The ship takes off and leaves Corvus.
