Kaddak

Kaddak, a planet steeped in lawlessness, was situated within the Kaddak system. This system itself resided in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy, specifically in proximity to Rothana. During the era of the New Republic, the Ranc Gang exerted its control over this world.

Description

The Sliver was built around a giant crystal

Kaddak existed as a terrestrial planet located in the Outer Rim. The Sliver, at least one known settlement, was found on this planet. This settlement was uniquely constructed around a massive pink crystal, shaped like a pinnacle. Within the Sliver were various levels, notably Level 72 and Level 45, where several cantinas operated. Furthermore, the headquarters of the Ranc Gang was also located within the Sliver.

History

Around 6 ABY, Corlac and Terex, former stormtroopers, journeyed from Jakku to Kaddak. There, they engaged with crime lords Wenda and Bett in a scheme to pilfer abandoned vessels from the derelict Rothana Imperial Shipyards. Terex, however, eliminated Corlac, Wenda, and Bett after uncovering their plot against him. Subsequently, he seized control of the Ranc gang, transforming it into a formidable pirate organization. Upon Terex's departure to join the First Order, he delegated leadership of the gang to Wisper.

Some decades prior to the attack on Tuanul, the New Republic attempted to establish its authority over Kaddak. However, all ships dispatched for this purpose vanished without a trace. In 34 ABY, N1-ZX, a BX-series droid commando serving as a Resistance spy droid, obtained substantial intelligence concerning the First Order, including the whereabouts of Supreme Leader Snoke. Before the Ranc Gang captured it, N1-ZX managed to transmit a message to the Resistance base located on D'Qar.

Commander Poe Dameron, accompanied by BB-8, C-3PO, and Oddy Muva, traveled to Kaddak under orders from General Leia Organa to conduct an investigation. After landing within the Sliver, they ventured to a cantina situated on Level 45. There, they learned from a mouse droid that their spy droid was in the custody of the Ranc Gang. Poe and his companions proceeded to the Ranc Gang's headquarters, only to be confronted by the gangsters. Simultaneously, Terex, an Agent from the First Order Security Bureau, returned to Kaddak and reclaimed leadership of the Ranc Gang from Wisper.

C-3PO orchestrated the group's rescue by activating several Resistance droid spies, who neutralized the gangsters and liberated N1-ZX. The spy droid refused to disclose the data until safely returned to the Resistance base. Terex then placed a bounty on Poe's head. After evading an angry mob, the group, excluding Oddy Muva, returned to their freighter. Poe and the droids then departed Kaddak aboard the T-70 X-wing starfighter Black One. Terex pursued them in his flagship Carrion Spike, while Oddy Muva, having secretly boarded the ship, intended to rescue his wife Sowa Chuan.

The events transpiring on Kaddak prompted Organa to release classified intelligence reports regarding the First Order's activities on the planet during a speech delivered to the New Republic Senate.
