N1-ZX, also known as "Nunzix," was a BX-series droid commando who fought for the Resistance's intelligence network during their conflict against the First Order. Nunzix operated on the Outer Rim planet of Kaddak, where he obtained critical intel about the First Order, notably the whereabouts of Supreme Leader Snoke. Nunzix possessed a powerful self-preservation protocol, preventing him from engaging in combat. Consequently, he regarded others as disposable.
After being saved by Poe Dameron, BB-8, and C-3PO, N1-ZX and his saviors were chased by First Order Security Bureau Agent Terex alongside his Ranc Gang to an uncharted desert planet. Due to his programming, Nunzix declined to fight. However, Poe overrode this programming using a droid personality matrix provided by the starfighter pilot Temmin Wexley. In his last moments, Nunzix transformed into "Mister Bones" and eliminated multiple Ranc gangsters before Terex personally vaporized him.

N1-ZX, a BX-series droid commando, served as an asset of the Resistance's droid spy network during the Cold War circa 34 ABY. He was programmed with a self-preservation directive to safeguard the information he gathered as a spy. N1-ZX was stationed on the planet Kaddak and reported to protocol droid C-3PO, who acted as General Leia Organa's intelligence chief. Before the events of the Mission to Kaddak, N1-ZX successfully transmitted a message to the Resistance base on D'Qar, indicating he had obtained a significant collection of data regarding the First Order, including the location of Supreme Leader Snoke. Consequently, Organa deployed Poe Dameron, C-3PO, BB-8, and the Abednedo technician Oddy Muva to retrieve N1-ZX.
Subsequently, N1-ZX was captured by the Ranc Gang, who intended to sell the [droid](/article/droid]. Before they could proceed, Dameron and C-3PO managed to infiltrate the Ranc Gang's headquarters and liberate N1-ZX by activating a sleeper cell of spy droids. Nunzix displayed minimal gratitude towards his rescuers, criticizing them for their tardiness. Despite C-3PO's instructions, N1-ZX also refused to divulge his information on Snoke until they had departed Kaddak. C-3PO explained that N1-ZX's self-preservation programming was deeply ingrained within his processors. When Dameron suggested performing a "robo-lobotomy" on Nunzix, N1-ZX challenged him to do so, while C-3PO clarified that such an action would result in a complete memory wipe. Dameron opted to return N1-ZX to the ship, prompting Nunzix to state that his designation was "Nunzix."

Before their departure, Terex overflew Kaddak in his vessel, the Carrion Spike, and urged the local gangsters to capture Poe. Upon reaching Dameron's freighter, N1-ZX dismissed the freighter and rebuked Dameron for a "terrible rescue." To confuse their pursuers, Dameron instead arranged their escape in his T-70 X-wing starfighter, Black One. The starfighters S-foils were modified to accommodate droids. During their journey through hyperspace, Dameron instructed C-3PO to reactivate Nunzix. Dameron confronted N1-ZX, expressing his suspicion that Terex had supplied him with disinformation to lure the Resistance into a trap. When N1-ZX inquired about the basis for this suspicion, Terex's ship, the Carrion Spike, and a squadron of Uglies emerged from hyperspace. Following a brief aerial engagement, Dameron's starfighter sustained damage from laser fire and crash-landed on the surface of a desert world.
Nunzix lost his right arm in the crash but managed to escape with Dameron and C-3PO into a cave. When N1-ZX asked if Dameron had a plan, Dameron replied they were going deeper but Nunzix countered it was a direction. Dameron responded that it was the start of the plan and told him to stay here if he did not like it. BB-8 later attempted to delay Terex and his Ranc Gang but fell from his perch. When Dameron and C-3PO expressed concern, Nunzix bluntly stated that they were still present and should not allow the "little guy's" sacrifice to be in vain. Dameron responded that he was the "worst" and Nunzix taunted back that he had the information about Snoke.
When Dameron voiced his suspicion it was a trap, N1-ZX countered that maybe the information had been used to lure Dameron here. He then told Dameron to move on, calling him "meat." Ultimately, C-3PO decided to remain behind in an effort to delay Terex and his men by summoning fjor-bats. As the Ranc Gang approached them, Dameron tried to persuade Nunzix to fight. However, N1-ZX responded that his combat programming had been trumped by the self-preservation software that C-3PO had installed in him. Nunzix responded that he was not putting himself at risk as long as Dameron was still alive to defend him.
Growing frustrated with Nunzix's reluctance, Dameron raised his blaster and questioned why he continued to keep him around. Nunzix retorted that firing his blaster would reveal their location. Shortly thereafter, Dameron was contacted via comlink by his friend Temmin Wexley, who informed him that Black Squadron had arrived to rescue them. As the gangsters neared their hiding place, Dameron requested that he fight, but Nunzix countered that the Ranc Gang only wanted Dameron dead, while he could surrender to live another day.

Dameron briefed Wexley on his predicament with Nunzix. Upon learning that Nunzix was a commando droid, Wexley transmitted a droid personality template of his old B1-series battle droid, Mister Bones, to Dameron's comlink. Dameron placed the comlink on N1-ZX's transponder. Nunzix protested, but the personality template superseded his previous programming. N1-ZX became "Mister Bones" and attacked the Ranc Gang, slaughtering several of the gangsters. Despite eliminating all of Terex's henchman, "Mister Bones" was shot and then beheaded by Terex, who confronted Dameron. Despite his disintegration, Dameron managed to defeat Terex in physical combat with the help of BB-8 while Black Squadron wiped out Terex's fleet and Muva rescued Terex's slaves. Following the battle, Terex was taken into custody by the First Order Commander Malarus, who was displeased with his unsanctioned mission against the Resistance.

N1-ZX, or "Nunzix," was a BX-series droid commando. As an intelligence droid, C-3PO modified him to incorporate a robust self-preservation programming. This programming caused Nunzix to prioritize his own safety to the point where he was unwilling to endanger his existence. The droid referred to himself as Nunzix and held a low opinion of the human Poe Dameron, calling him "meat." Nunzix prided himself on having collected valuable intelligence regarding the First Order, including the location of Supreme Leader Snoke. He refused to disclose this information until he had returned to the safety of the Resistance base on D'Qar.
Nunzix possessed a cynical and sarcastic disposition. As a commando droid, N1-ZX was equipped with a transponder that allowed his programming to be overwritten by a droid personality matrix. After being reprogrammed as "Mister Bones," N1-ZX ceased to exist. As Mister Bones, N1-ZX's chassis was able to kill several Ranc gangsters by using his severed right arm as a weapon. However, he was outmatched and disintegrated by Terex.
N1-ZX made his debut appearance in the 2017 comic Poe Dameron 10, authored by Charles Soule and illustrated by Phil Noto.
