The Koda Spur represented a hyperspace route. Originating from Koda Station, it extended eastward to its conclusion at the plant of Lutrillia, where it connected to the Corellian Trade Spine. This route navigated through the astronomical feature Ryoone and the planets Thune and Lotho Minor, traversing both the Outer Rim Territories and the uncharted regions of Wild Space.
Emerging from Koda Station found in the Outer Rim Territories, the Koda Spur was a hyperspace route heading east towards the Corellian Trade Spine. Before its endpoint at the planet Lutrillia (itself connected to the Corellian Trade Spine via another route), it went through the Outer Rim's Ryoone, the Wild Space planet of Thune, and Lotho Minor (a planet in the Lotho Minor system of the Wazta sector),. Vassek, a planet located within the Vassek system in the Wazta sector, was situated at a sufficient distance from the Koda Spur, resulting in a low volume of visitors.
In the year 20 BBY, Savage Opress, a warrior aligned with the dark side, commandeered a Terrapin-class Bulk Tanker in close proximity to the Koda Spur. The tanker had been en route between the planets of Stobar and Lotho Minor. During the period of the Galactic Civil War, rumors circulated about a TIE fighter with a new paint job being observed along the Koda Spur. Around 5 ABY, Caern Adan, an agent working for New Republic Intelligence, and Lieutenant Yrica Quell scrutinized a reported sighting aboard the Acclamator-class transgalactic military assault ship named Lodestar. They were investigating potential activity involving the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing.
In 34 ABY, a section of the galaxy map displayed on screens within the Star Cruiser Halcyon (owned by Chandrila Star Line) included the Koda Spur. This occurred as the vessel traveled from the Chandrila system in the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim Territories.
Within current Star Wars canon, the initial visual depiction of the Koda Spur appeared on a map featured in "Where in the Galaxy Are the Worlds of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?," a StarWars.com blog post authored by Mark Newbold and released on January 29, 2016. Its formal identification occurred later, in the sixty-fifth issue of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, which was published around March 30, 2016. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Koda Spur received its first mention in The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 penned by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.
