Mission to Tatooine (Kyber Saber)

Between the years 3 ABY and 4 ABY, the Freemaker family embarked on a mission to the planet of Tatooine. Their objective was to provide maintenance services to the Toong podracing pilot Ben Quadinaros' podracer. Unbeknownst to them, this was a carefully orchestrated trap devised by the Hutt crime lord Graballa, whose true intention was to capture Rowan Freemaker in hopes of locating additional Kyber Saber crystals. The Freemakers successfully evaded Graballa and his associates by entering the 29th Annual Bricklayers' Classic. Eventually, Graballa and his henchmen cornered them at a wrecked sandcrawler, resulting in a siege. Ultimately, the Freemakers were rescued by the undercover Sith Naare, who vanquished Graballa's forces and facilitated their escape from the planet.

Prelude

Following their escape from their [prison](/article/prison] cell located in Cloud City, the bounty hunters Dengar, Baash, and Raam made their way back to the Hutt crime lord Graballa's starship, known as the Rancor's Fist. It was there that Dengar revealed to Graballa that they had discovered the identity of the mysterious Force-sensitive boy, Rowan Freemaker. This information greatly pleased Graballa, particularly because he had been unsuccessful in his previous attempts to persuade his cousin Jabba to lend him the necessary funds to construct a beachfront resort and buffet. To ensnare the Freemakers, Graballa devised a scheme by pressuring the Toong podracing pilot Ben Quadinaros to solicit their services for repairing his podracer in Mos Espa.

The mission

The unplanned podrace

Due to the Freemakers' financial constraints and need to pay rent, Zander accepted Ben's offer. The Freemakers, including their B1-series battle droid Roger, journeyed to Mos Espa. Upon Zander's request for payment, Ben summoned Graballa and his henchmen. Graballa confronted Rowan and his siblings, demanding that the boy assist him in locating additional Kyber Saber crystals. However, before Graballa could interrogate the Freemakers further, Jabba and his entourage, including the bounty hunter Boba Fett, entered the workshop, confronting Graballa for his unauthorized presence on Tatooine.

While Graballa attempted to convince Jabba that his dealings with the Freemakers were of no concern to him, the Freemakers seized the opportunity to escape using the podracer they were repairing. Graballa ordered Dengar, Baash, and Raam to pursue them on their speeder bikes. With Graballa in pursuit, the Freemakers had no choice but to participate in the upcoming 29th Annual Bricklayers' Classic in an attempt to shake off their pursuers. Dengar chased the Freemakers through the race course, firing his blaster at them.

After the Freemakers' podracer entered a tunnel, they managed to damage Dengar's bike. However, Dengar commandeered a blue podracer and continued pursuing the Freemakers, who had reached fourth place. By the second round, Baash and Raam had entered the race and attempted to ambush the Freemakers with their bikes. However, Zander accelerated his podracer, causing the two Iktotchi to crash their bikes into each other. By the third round, the Freemakers had managed to surpass several other podracers, including Ben Quadinaros. Dengar eventually caught up with the Freemakers and engaged in a fight with Rowan atop their podracer. However, Rowan managed to strike Dengar with the stabilizer control, causing the bounty hunter to lose his grip.

Standoff at the sandcrawler

Subsequently, the Freemakers crashed their podracer in the Dune Sea. Seeking refuge, the Freemakers sought shelter in a nearby sandcrawler, which had been abandoned by its Jawa inhabitants. Despite Rowan's reservations, Kordi and Zander decided to contact Naare for assistance. They utilized Roger's transmission pack as an improvised long-distance transmitter and homing beacon. Zander successfully summoned Naare for help just as Graballa and his henchmen caught up with them at the sandcrawler.

Following unsuccessful negotiations, the Freemakers managed to fend off Graballa and his henchmen by hurling thermal detonators. Graballa and his henchmen were forced to scatter and take cover in the sand dunes until the Freemakers exhausted their supply of detonators. Graballa then ordered his henchmen to storm the sandcrawler, but they were ambushed by Naare, who had arrived in her starship Eclipse Fighter. Naare employed her lightsaber and Force powers to overpower Graballa's henchmen. She then instructed the Freemakers to board her ship.

Rowan successfully escaped, but Roger, Zander, and Kordi were captured. Naare used her Force powers and lightsabers to free them. Meanwhile, Rowan discovered Naare's Sith lightsaber and overheard a transmission from Emperor Palpatine instructing Naare to use force against Rowan to ensure better results. Shortly later, Naare returned with the other Freemakers and they returned back to the Wheel.

Aftermath

Graballa was unable to pursue the Freemakers because Naare destroyed his sail barge. Adding to his humiliation, Graballa was compelled to request a ride from his cousin Graballa. Meanwhile, Naare returned to the Wheel. She cautioned Rowan against running off again. However, the boy stole her Sith lightsaber. Later, he informed his siblings about Naare's true identity. Consequently, the Freemakers began preparations to flee the Wheel.
