Commander Pyre of the First Order sported a uniquely modified set of First Order stormtrooper armor. This armor was adapted for enhanced mobility and bore a lustrous electrum coating, giving it a gold sheen. Pyre utilized this armor in 34 ABY.

The armor worn by Commander Pyre was a personalized take on the standard-issue First Order stormtrooper armor. A black pauldron adorned his right shoulder, signifying his rank. The armor's electrum finish resulted in a radiant gold appearance. Pyre wore a black body glove beneath the armor. Modifications were made to enhance flexibility, especially in the boots, at the cost of protection in the lower torso and upper arm regions. His blaster was uniquely programmed to operate only with his gloves and featured an electrum finish to complement his armor. This distinctive armor made Pyre easily identifiable.

During 34 ABY, Pyre donned his armor during visits to the Colossus refueling station located on the planet Castilon. While hunting the Teharan orphans Eila and [Kel](/article/kel], in an attempt to conceal the First Order's involvement in the Attack on Tehar, the commander was seen wearing the armor.
Pyre sported this armor on multiple occasions when interacting with Captain Imanuel Doza of the Colossus, both through hologram communications and face-to-face meetings. He also wore it while communicating with Kragan Gorr, who led the Warbird pirates.
The first appearance of Pyre's armor was in "The Children from Tehar," the sixth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which debuted on November 4, 2018. A preview of the armor was initially revealed earlier that year on August 17 in the series's inaugural trailer, which was shared on StarWars.com and the official Disney YouTube channel. The Star Wars Resistance toy line from Hasbro, which was released on January 15, 2019, initially referred to the armor as "Pyre's dark armor." Later, on October 4 of that year, the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition officially identified it as "Pyre's armor."

Lucasfilm Animation artist Amy Beth Christenson created concept art for Pyre and his armor, titled "pyreA," on February 28, 2017. The armor's model was derived from the "foTrooperA" model with adjustments to scale, while the details on the gauntlet were taken from the "PhasmaA" model. The design aimed for a similar material to "PhasmaA," but with less shine. Although the helmet's interior was designed, it was intended to remain in place.
