Ta'klah was a planet-like celestial body. In the year 232 BBY, when it was threatened by an Emergence following the Great Hyperspace Disaster, Stellan Gios, a Jedi Master, and other Jedi traveled to help the inhabitants of Ta'klah. Subsequently, the population of Ta'klah was moved to new locations, with some individuals settling on the planet Banchii, where they received assistance from Jedi Master Arkoff and Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi.
Ta'klah was a planet-like celestial body that featured mountainous terrain. It possessed trees and a Type I atmosphere that humans could breathe.

Following the Great Hyperspace Disaster of 232 BBY, an Emergence, one of a series of debris fallout events, manifested above Ta'klah, causing widespread panic among the residents of a local settlement. A group of Jedi, including Jedi Master Stellan Gios, soon arrived in Jedi Vectors to provide aid to the people of Ta'klah. After leaping from his Vector, Gios aided a fallen child and used the Force to shield them from falling debris. He then informed the people of Ta'klah about the disaster and instructed them to find shelter. When a resident expressed gratitude to Gios, he reassured them of the Jedi's help and reiterated the need to seek shelter indoors. The settlement was ultimately consumed by flames and destroyed due to the disaster.

In the wake of the disaster, some of the inhabitants were resettled on the Outer Rim planet of Banchii. The final group of settlers, including the farmer Kooba, was transported to Banchii by the Wookiee Jedi Master Arkoff and Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi. Zaret, a Nihil spy, was also among this group. Upon landing their starship, they were greeted by other Jedi stationed on Banchii, including Keerin Fionn, Tora-Asi's Padawan, who inquired about the settlers. Tora-Asi confirmed that they were the last of the settlers from Ta'klah, expressing their good spirits and eagerness to settle in. She then tasked Fionn with showing the refugees around the settlement on Banchii. Later, Banchii was attacked by the Drengir, sentient carnivorous plants. Following the attack, Tora-Asi raised the possibility that the Drengir's seeds might have been brought to Banchii during the Ta'klah resettlement trips, perhaps through someone secretly giving Kooba Drengir seeds to plant.
At a point in time no earlier than 35 ABY, the protocol droid C-3PO authored a book concerning Wookiees. Within this book, C-3P0 mentioned Arkoff's welcoming of the Ta'klah refugees to Banchii.

Ta'klah's initial appearance was in the first volume of the Star Wars: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance manga series. The series was written by Shima Shinya and Justina Ireland, illustrated by Mizuki Sakakibara, and published by Viz Media on September 7, 2021 as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative. Ta'klah received its first mention on July 28, 2021, in a StarWars.com article featuring a preview of the volume, prior to its release.
Subsequently, Ta'klah was visually depicted for the first time in a preview for the volume contained within The High Republic – The Edge of Balance/Guardians of the Whills, a comic book released by Viz Media on August 14 of that year for Free Comic Book Day. The capitalization of the name Ta'klah was verified in a preview of the reference book Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia, featured in a StarWars.com article published on July 21, 2023. Megan Crouse and Amy Richau authored the book, which was published later that year on December 5.
