The Archive

During the Imperial Era, Cere Junda, a Jedi Master who survived Order 66, utilized a location on Jedha known as the Archive, or Cere's base. This location housed Zeffo armor along with a wall displaying various Jedi texts. This Archive was constructed from a pre-existing Narkis Anchorite monastery, situated within the [Narkis Highlands](/article/narkis_highlands] region of the Narkis Desert. This underground base was expanded to become more than ten times its original size, while still incorporating some of the original mountain tunnels. The Archive's natural surroundings offered protection from both desert storms and Imperial scanners.

The operation of Master Junda's Archive was supported by numerous Narkis Anchorites. These Anchorites also aided Junda in establishing connections with the Hidden Path, which was a network of safe houses providing sanctuary to individuals persecuted by the Empire. Among these Anchorites were Brother Armias and Sister Taske. Through their connection to the Path, Junda was able to reunite with her former master, Eno Cordova, who then joined Junda in the upkeep of the Archive. Later on, the Nightsister Merrin was also recruited to offer her assistance.

In 9 BBY, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Knight and Junda's apprentice, arrived at the Archive alongside Greez Dritus, an old friend of Junda, and Bode Akuna, a new acquaintance of Kestis. Master Cordova assisted the group in using the Archive's records to delve into the history of Dagan Gera, a fallen Jedi from the High Republic Era, and to uncover information about Tanalorr, a hidden planet located beyond the deadly Koboh Abyss. Kestis provided Cordova with three Abyss compasses, and he was successful in repairing the last one. However, Bode Akuna, who was secretly an agent of the Imperial Security Bureau, betrayed the Archive's location to the Inquisitorius. He then stole the compass, murdered Cordova, and escaped on a speeder bike. Kestis pursued Akuna, while Junda stayed behind to defend the Archive from the approaching Imperial forces. She and Merrin secured the hangar bay, but Junda soon detected the arrival of a dark and familiar presence at the Archive. Junda engaged in combat with Darth Vader within the Archive as the Sith Lord decimated the many holobooks. Junda was ultimately killed by Vader, and the Archive suffered extensive damage.

After the battle, Sister Taske remained at the Archive to care for the facility in remembrance of her fallen Anchorite companions.
