Toomata Wree

Toomata Wree, also known as Tooms, was a male Abednedo employed by Surat Nuat on the planet of Akiva. Not long after the Battle of Endor, Wree joined his fellow thugs Makarial Gravin and Herf in an attempt to recover stolen property from Temmin Wexley. The items had been pilfered from Surat's crashed transport ship. These three confronted Temmin at his shop dealing in scrap, only to be defeated by the boy's customized B1-series battle droid, Mister Bones.

Biography

During the Age of the Empire, the male Abednedo gangster Toomata Wree worked for Surat Nuat, a Sullustan crime lord operating on the planet Akiva. He also had a romantic partner named Looda. In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, Surat dispatched Tooms, along with his associates Makarial Gravin, a Koorivar, and [Herf](/article/herf_(ithorian)], an Ithorian, to settle a dispute with Temmin Wexley, a local human junk dealer. Wexley had absconded with a valuable batch of data cubes from the wreckage of a transport that had crashed along Trabzon Road in Myrra, the capital city of Akiva.

Upon entering Temmin's establishment, Tooms and his comrades accosted the young man and demanded restitution for the stolen goods. When Makarial insisted that Temmin relinquish ownership of his shop, Temmin retaliated by unleashing Mister Bones, his upgraded B1-series battle droid, upon the gangsters. During the ensuing brawl, Tooms attempted to draw his blaster, but the battle droid instead slammed Herf directly into him. Bones then incapacitated both of them by forcefully knocking their heads together. Their superior, Makarial, was subdued by Temmin's modified interrogator droid. Subsequently, Temmin commanded Mister Bones to dispose of the unconscious criminals by dumping them into the Kora Biedies. However, the criminals managed to escape and disable the battle droid. Following this, Surat and his other accomplices set a trap for Temmin within his own junkshop.

After Temmin was recaptured, Tooms was left behind in the junkshop while the others departed. He then attempted to scavenge something for his girlfriend Looda, who was unhappy with his association with Surat. While attempting to steal the head of a translator droid, the Abednedo inadvertently uncovered a concealed passageway in the shop's basement. Before he could investigate, Temmin's mother, Norra Wexley, entered the room and shot Tooms, first in the stomach and then again to disarm him. She then pressed her pistol against his chin and demanded that Tooms reveal her son's whereabouts.

Personality and traits

Toomata Wree was a criminal who kept company with other criminals and was known to use offensive language. He was willing to resort to violence if negotiations failed. Although he was a fighter, he was no match for Mister Bones, the modified B1 battle droid. After witnessing Norra Wexley fatally shoot his Rodian associate, Toom cooperated with her and divulged the location of her son, Temmin.

Toomata also harbored romantic feelings for his girlfriend Looda and demonstrated his respect for her by attempting to salvage loot as a gift. She disapproved of his involvement in Surat Nuat's criminal enterprise.

Behind the scenes

Toomata Wree made his debut appearance in Chuck Wendig's 2015 novel Aftermath, a part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens series. The novel erroneously describes him as a Rodian on two occasions; however, as he is more frequently identified as an Abednedo, this article assumes that this is his correct species.
