Ubduria

Ubduria was a celestial body situated within the Inner Rim Territories. It served as one of the two original homeworlds of the sentient Ubdurian species, with the other being the planet Nag Ubdur, found in the Outer Rim. The Ubdurians were among the earliest spacefaring civilizations in the galaxy, eventually building a commercial empire along the hyperspace route known as the Vaathkree Trade Corridor. The forces of the Mandalorian warrior culture once brought devastation to Ubduria during one of their crusades into the inner regions of the galaxy.

Description

The celestial body Ubduria was located in the Inner Rim Territories and the New Territories. Its position was in grid square N-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid, and it was connected to the astronomical object Obroa-skai via the Vaathkree Trade Corridor hyperspace route.

History

Ubduria functioned as one of the two original planets of the Ubdurian species.

During a crusade into the inner star systems of the galaxy, the Mandalorian warrior culture's forces, who considered the native Ubdurian species to be cowardly and without honor, inflicted devastation upon the astronomical object; this event is documented in "Mandalorians Through the Ages" by historian and author Eloc Throno. Ubduria also appeared in an entry from the journal of an artist dedicated to the Ubdurians. This journal was later restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive sometime after 34 ABY.

Inhabitants

Ubduria, along with Nag Ubdur in the Outer Rim Territories's Ubdur system, was a primary homeworld of the sentient Ubdurian species, who communicated using the Ubdurian language. The Ubdurians stood as one of the earliest spacefaring civilizations in the galaxy and eventually built a commercial empire along the Vaathkree Trade Corridor.

Behind the scenes

The initial mention of Ubduria occurred in Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy.

The reference book Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy, written by Jason Fry and released on August 23, 2016, marked the debut of Ubduria. Fry later addressed a perceived contradiction on the Jedi Council Forums of TheForce.net. This contradiction involved Chuck Wendig's novel Aftermath: Life Debt (July 12, 2016), which described the Ubdurians as originating from Nag Ubdur in the Outer Rim Territories, versus Aliens of the Galaxy, which placed the Ubdurians' commercial empire and historical power base along the Vaathkree Trade Corridor in the Inner Rim Territories.

The author of Aliens of the Galaxy pointed out the relative proximity of the Outer Rim and Inner Rim in the Ubduria region. He also humorously suggested that the placement of the Vaathkree Trade Corridor in the Star Wars Legends continuity was not considered when writing the Ubdurian description. Later, the 2018 book Star Wars: Alien Archive explicitly identified both Nag Ubdur and Ubduria as the Ubdurians' homeworlds. Ultimately, Ubduria's location on the Vaathkree Trade Corridor was confirmed by a map created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and distributed as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim on May 27, 2022, before the book's release during Celebration Europe from April 7 to 10, 2023.
