Hello everyone! I go by the name J Fan, though I'm often recognized as CJSFan. I've explored many Wikis, but I'm most known for my contributions to the POTC Wiki.
I formally became a member of Wikia under the username "CJSFan" on April 4, 2010, and it's been a blast ever since! My primary focus on Wikis is the POTC Wiki (yes, I admit I'm a huge Pirates enthusiast, haha), although I occasionally contribute to other Wikis by adding images, offering suggestions, and so forth. I've been actively involved in the Wiki community since 2010, consistently striving to make valuable contributions, especially to the POTC Wiki!
In March 2012, I made the decision to change my username to "J Fan" because I realized I was equally passionate about both POTC and Batman, and I loved the iconic "J" characters in both (Jack Sparrow in POTC and the Joker in Batman, lol). I've also contributed to DC-related wikis, such as DC Animated and Batman Wiki, which I believe will be beneficial. As for what you should call me: feel free to use either name (J Fan is now my official Wiki name, but as I mentioned, many people still know me as "CJSFan").
Unfortunately, my expertise in the Star Wars universe is limited. My current knowledge comes from the films and a few series, but it's not as comprehensive as others' contributions. I've played some of the video games, but my knowledge varies depending on the game, and I suspect some (if not all) are non-canonical. Nevertheless, I'll do my best to contribute by cleaning up information, correcting misquotes, or adding anything I feel is necessary. Happy editing, and of course..."May the Force be with you."
Depending on who you ask, my status as a Star Wars fan might be debatable. Regrettably, I didn't fully immerse myself in the universe until 2005 (dramatic music)...specifically, after watching Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I know, I know, but isn't it better to appreciate the series in some way than not at all? Before that, I had played the 2005 Revenge of the Sith video game, encountered spoilers for that spoiler everywhere, and vaguely remember watching parts of the 2003 Clone Wars animated series. Otherwise, I might have only caught glimpses of the films earlier in life. Anyway, over the years, I've enjoyed all six films and both Clone Wars series. If you had asked me years ago about my favorite characters, I would have likely only mentioned Jedi or Sith (because, let's face it, everyone loves Jedi and Sith). Now, I can name more characters, including bounty hunters, senators, and even droids.
Interestingly, my appreciation for the Star Wars universe continues to grow, with the CGI Clone Wars series expanding my knowledge and introducing me to numerous stories and characters, despite some considering it non-canon. My perspective on Star Wars canon is that the six films and the TV series are canon, while everything else is open to interpretation depending on the source. However, I can't delve as deeply into Star Wars as others, so I suppose it's fine as long as this Wiki exists.
I could ramble on about my geeky interests, but I probably wouldn't have time to say much more than that.
Like many Star Wars enthusiasts, I'm eager to see where the saga goes. However, I'm somewhat apprehensive about Lucas not being the writer or director, as well as Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. But since Lucas is a creative consultant (which isn't too different from his role as Executive Producer in the Clone Wars series), I'm confident it won't significantly impact things. Currently, there is no official plot synopsis or confirmed cast, as far as I know. Regardless, I anticipate that Episode VII will be a decent, if not excellent, addition to the Star Wars saga.
Having now seen all three films in the Sequel Trilogy, I can confidently say that it wasn't the best Star Wars had to offer. While I enjoyed Episode VII The Force Awakens the most, I don't think VIII The Last Jedi was as terrible as some fans claim, and Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker was mostly entertaining. However, the changes in directors and overall direction ultimately ruined the films for me. It was evident that the films lacked a clear plan for the story, unlike George Lucas' saga, which felt like he had a vision for the storylines, even if he didn't plan every detail (e.g., Luke and Leia being siblings). And of course his last three films were prequels, but let's forget those facts.
Now, let's talk about Star Wars in the Disney+ era. I joined the streaming service a few months after its launch, like many fans. I must say, it was a great deal with all the content, both new and old, including Star Wars content. I enjoyed the first season of The Mandalorian and was thrilled to learn that The Clone Wars seventh and final season was coming soon. Fortunately, I caught up on everything beforehand, thanks in part to the COVID pandemic. I rewatched The Clone Wars as a refresher and binged Star Wars Rebels, which I hadn't seen before. I thoroughly enjoyed my Star Wars binge, learning about what is currently considered canon (for better or worse, I'll leave that up to you). Catching up in time for the series finale of The Clone Wars made that May 4th a day long remembered and worth remembering. Unfortunately, I experienced a personal tragedy when a close family member/father figure passed away months later; 2020 the gift that keeps on giving. He enjoyed The Mandalorian and was quite interested in the animated series, especially Rebels, oddly enough.
Despite the recent tragedy, I'm trying to enjoy what I had and was about to get, though it's been difficult to fully appreciate the new content or even rewatch the older stuff I love. The Mandalorian season two would have been particularly exciting to watch, and I think The Book of Boba Fett would have been enjoyable, but I'm not sure how he would have felt about it. One thing is certain: he wouldn't have been happy about Gina Carano's firing. Regardless, I've personally enjoyed almost everything that's been released so far from both series, although that's debatable among fans. Obi-Wan Kenobi was perhaps the most intriguing series thus far, despite some complaints (both in terms of quality and continuity). Still, the return of Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and James Earl Jones in their iconic roles sold it for me...but again, debatable. Overall, I haven't had many issues with most series thus far.
In conclusion, I'm optimistic about the future, but I feel that the best of Star Wars was George Lucas' saga (Episodes IV-VI and even I-III), The Clone Wars and Rebels series, and perhaps the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. The rest will depend on individual tastes, and for me, it's been mostly good but far from perfect. You'll have to ask me for a more specific opinion. Until then, "May the Force be with us all."
Before anyone sends hate mail, this is primarily a list of characters I dislike, and it's just my opinion. From most disliked (or hated) to least disliked:
To be clear, as of Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker (and possibly beyond), I appreciate all Star Wars movies equally and don't have many criticisms or strong negative feelings about most of them. The Star Wars series beginning with the Sequel Trilogy isn't the best, in my view, but it's also far from the worst. We'll see how things develop in the future. Here's my ranking of all the films:
