Windom Traducier

In 5 ABY, Windom Traducier, a human male, served as a secret agent for the Galactic Empire while outwardly working as a Senate Guard for the New Republic. He played a role in Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax's scheme to strike at Chandrila, the New Republic's capital. This involved utilizing a transponder to transmit signals that transformed prisoners from Ashmead's Lock, who had been liberated rebel soldiers, into unwitting assassins targeting Chancellor Mon Mothma and other key New Republic figures. Following the attack on Chandrila, the New Republic Security Bureau apprehended and investigated Windom. However, his life was cut short when Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer who had defected to the New Republic, murdered him.

Biography

On Chandrila in 5 ABY, Windom Traducier, a New Republic Senate Guardsman, was secretly an Imperial agent working for Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax. While guarding Yupe Tashu, a former Imperial Adviser, he was approached by Sinjir Rath Velus, the former Imperial loyalty officer turned New Republic operative, and his companion Temmin Wexley. They sought information from Tashu regarding Han Solo and Imperial fugitives. Citing protocol, Windom initially refused to grant them access to Tashu's cell. However, Sinjir's persistence eventually led Windom to reluctantly permit the interrogation. It was from Tashu that Sinjir learned of Ashmead's Lock, a clandestine Imperial prison located on Kashyyyk.

After Han Solo aided Sinjir and Temmin's team in liberating the prisoners of Ashmead's Lock, Windom, acting under the orders of Fleet Admiral Rax, installed a transponder atop the opera house in Hanna City. These liberated rebel prisoners, implanted with inorganic biochips, were crucial to Rax's plan to assassinate the New Republic leadership on Liberation Day. The transponder served as a conduit for Rax to transmit signals to the former prisoners, who were then compelled to rendezvous with Windom. Windom prepared the former prisoners for the impending attack, providing them with small, concealed graphene blasters. Leveraging his position as a guardsman, Traducier strategically positioned these unwilling assassins near prominent New Republic figures, including Chancellor Mon Mothma and General Crix Madine, at the Old Gather-House and Senate Plaza.

On the eve of Liberation Day, Temmin stumbled upon Windom conversing with Brentin Lore Wexley, one of the former prisoners, thus foiling Windom's plot. To prevent discovery of the plot, Traducier ordered Brentin to finish off the intruder. Brentin stunned his son and hid him inside a crate. On Liberation Day, the former prisoners received a signal from Rax which caused them to attack New Republic officials and military officers. Chancellor Mothma and Commodore Kyrsta Agate were seriously wounded while General Madine and Adviser Hostis Ij were rumored to have been killed. This attack disrupted the planned Imperial–Republic peace talks with Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, paving the way for the Battle of Jakku.

Under orders from Fleet Admiral Rax, Windom successfully assassinate the defector General Jylia Shale and freed Yupe Tashu. Subsequently, New Republic authorities apprehended Windom and imprisoned him for his involvement in the Chandrila attack. The New Republic Security Bureau's investigation revealed Windom's use of a transponder to manipulate signals to the inorganic bio-chips implanted in the Ashmead's Lock prisoners.

Later, Sinjir bribed a New Republic guard into allowing him to visit Windom in the interrogation room. Windom taunted the former Imperial that the New Republic was too weak to prevent chaos in the galaxy. Seeking vengeance on Windom for hurting his friends particularly Temmin and his mother Norra Wexley, Sinjir stabbed him with a vibro-knife in the sternum. Windom died from his injuries.
