Aloxor

Aloxor, a planet situated within the Aloxor system of the Esaga sector, resided in the Mid Rim Territories. During the Galactic Empire's reign, which is referred to as the time of the Empire, Aloxor fell under the governance of Governor Haveland and had an Imperial presence. However, the city of Tiquwe on this planet also harbored a criminal underworld, including various pirate organizations. Aloxor played a role in the distribution and reception of resources for the Empire's Project Stardust. As part of an anti-piracy campaign within the sector, Grand Admiral Balanhai Savit deployed numerous agents to Aloxor, disrupting the criminal activities of Tiquwe.

While investigating irregularities in the Stardust supply chain, irregularities that were caused by Savit's theft of project components, Grand Admiral Thrawn dispatched Eli Vanto, a former Imperial, and Brierly Ronan, an Assistant Director, to Aloxor after deducing that the stolen components originated from there. Their efforts were briefly hampered by Sisay's gang, a pirate gang, but they received aid from Dayja Collerand, an agent of the Imperial Security Bureau. The Imperials achieved success in their mission, uncovering evidence of the betrayal aboard one of the freighters bound for the Stardust transfer point. However, Ronan's attempt to deliver the evidence directly to Stardust resulted in the capture of himself, Collerand, and the freighter by the Star Destroyer Stormbird, leaving Vanto and the group's death trooper escort to return to Thrawn.

Description

Aloxor was a terrestrial planet characterized by expansive desert landscapes, situated in the Aloxor system within the Esaga sector of the Mid Rim Territories. When viewed from space, its surface exhibited a blend of green and blue swirls interwoven with stretches of dark brown. Aloxor possessed a breathable atmosphere.

History

Internal and External Crime

During the Imperial Era, Aloxor, as a component of the Esaga sector, was under the control of Governor Haveland of the Galactic Empire. After Haveland persuaded Director Orson Krennic to channel supply chains for his Project Stardust through her territory, Aloxor became a hub where equipment was received, repackaged, and dispatched to a designated transfer point. When Grand Admiral Balanhai Savit, who opposed the allocation of resources to the Stardust project, orchestrated the theft of turbolaser components en route to the transfer point, Aloxor was among the three planets where starships and their cargo underwent modifications in preparation for their illicit diversion. Savit masked the theft by attributing it to gralloc attacks, and despite periodic relocations of the transfer point to evade these creatures, Haveland's territory remained an integral part of the Stardust supply chain.

As a facade for his dealings with pirates involved in the theft of Project Stardust resources, and to eliminate rival factions, Savit initiated an anti-piracy campaign throughout the Esaga sector, encompassing Aloxor. Savit dispatched agents and spies to Aloxor, disrupting the operations of local entities, including the gang commanded by the pirate Sisay. Among these operatives was Major Dayja Collerand of the Imperial Security Bureau, who assumed the alias "Mole," a transient slicer.

Investigations and Betrayal

While investigating the supposed gralloc problem plaguing Stardust, Grand Admiral Thrawn sent Imperial defector Eli Vanto, Assistant Director Brierly Ronan, and the death troopers Pik and Waffle to Aloxor, as it was the nearest of the three suspected planets. Thrawn also requested Colonel Wullf Yularen to assign an Imperial Security Bureau agent to monitor his operatives, and Collerand, already stationed on Aloxor, was entrusted with this task. Vanto, Ronan, and the death troopers arrived in the city of Tiquwe aboard a shuttle, intending to locate a starship bound for the transfer point at the Imperial spaceport and inspect its cargo. However, en route, the group was confronted by Sisay's gang, who mistook them for agents of Savit. When questioned about their activities, Vanto fabricated a cover story, claiming to be on Aloxor to eliminate Savit.

Sisay escorted the group to her gang's stronghold, where she persisted in interrogating them. Upon Collerand's arrival at the stronghold, Sisay summoned "Mole" to examine the operatives' ident data cards. Collerand corroborated their cover story, suggesting a clandestine route to the Imperial section of the spaceport. Sisay insisted on accompanying them with her men, and the group traversed the city, pausing at the building that led to the entrance. Once inside, Sisay held Thrawn's operatives at gunpoint; the arrival of the Star Destroyer Stormbird of Savit's Third Fleet above Tiquwe reinforced her belief that the group was in league with Savit. Collerand incapacitated Sisay's subordinates and killed the gang leader, revealing his true identity to the Imperial operatives and pledging to assist them in their mission.

The group gained access to the spaceport, where they inspected the freighter Brylan Ross, discovering that it carried turbolaser components instead of its declared cargo and that it had been modified to attract grallocs. Ronan intended to abandon the others and deliver the freighter and its evidence directly to Krennic on the planet Scarif, but Collerand remained aboard the vessel, suggesting a detour to the ISB headquarters. As Ronan attempted to pilot the Brylan Ross, the Stormbird ensnared the freighter in its tractor beam, despite Collerand's nearly successful efforts to evade capture. Having witnessed the events, Vanto and the death troopers returned to their shuttle and departed to rendezvous with Thrawn, while Savit ordered the Stormbird to depart Aloxor in order to transfer the freighter, its passengers, and the evidence to him. Following the exposure of Savit's treason and his subsequent removal from command, Captain Lochry of the Stormbird returned to Aloxor to oversee operations against the pirates Savit had collaborated with.

Inhabitants

The city of Tiquwe on Aloxor was a haven for criminal elements, including pirates and smugglers. It hosted an Imperial presence and a general populace, both of whom either aided or evaded the criminals. Spaceport officials and Imperials in Tiquwe were susceptible to corruption by Aloxor's criminal organizations through bribery or extortion. Sisay's gang was one of numerous pirate gangs operating from Aloxor. Another individual active on Aloxor was Parpa, for whom Dayja Collerand worked while undercover.

When Thrawn's operatives were confronted in Tiquwe by Sisay's gang, numerous bystanders readied their blasters to assist the gang if the newcomers retaliated. As Sisay led their group toward her stronghold, Vanto observed that an increasing number of passersby recognized the gang, with reactions divided equally between positive and negative recognition. The group also encountered several scavengers sifting through trash bins in a back alley.

Locations

Tiquwe was a city situated in Aloxor's southern hemisphere. While Tiquwe's spaceport featured both a commercial sector and a sector affiliated with the Empire, a significant portion of the port was utilized by smugglers and pirates. The commercial port was enclosed by walls equipped with sensor wire and percher guard droids. A condemned building provided a narrow back entrance to the commercial section. The Imperial section of the port was similarly walled off, albeit with more sophisticated defenses. An underground passage originating from within a scorched freighter wreck led to an abandoned dispatch office within the Imperial port. Several tall buildings were positioned on the perimeter of the spaceport.

The streets of the smuggler port were winding and bustling, teeming with vendor carts, shopping kiosks, and dilapidated storefront businesses. Notable establishments in the area included a café and a chocolate shop owned by Jeffrie. Sisay's gang operated from a stronghold—a former hotel situated in a neighborhood dominated by the gang.

Behind the scenes

Aloxor made its debut in the new Star Wars canon in the 2019 novel Thrawn: Treason, authored by Timothy Zahn. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Aloxor received its initial mention in the novel Fate of the Jedi: Ascension, penned by Christie Golden and released in 2011.
