Andoan White

Andoan White, alternatively known as simply Andoan, was a kind of white wine that originated on the planet of Ando. During the Clone Wars era, the Oga's Cantina establishment, located on the Outer Rim world of Batuu, imported this wine from Ando to serve to its customers. In 19 BBY, Senator Padmé Amidala paid a visit to the Batuu cantina and requested two servings of Andoan White in mugs.

Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, this drink was available at 79's and Cid's Parlor on Coruscant and Ord Mantell respectively. It was also stored in a wine cabinet on Raxus Secundus. As late as 34 ABY, Oga's Cantina still offered this wine, and the historian Eloc Throno described the characteristics of Andoan White in his Batuu guidebook.

Description

Andoan White, also known as Andoan for short, was a white wine variety produced on the planet Ando, the homeworld of the Aqualish species. According to the historian Eloc Throno, the wine had a refreshing, light, and thirst-quenching taste, along with a crisp and balanced flavor. Humans could consume Andoan White, and it was typically served in mugs. The wine was packaged in a brown bottle featuring black and yellow labels, with the name of the drink written in Aurebesh.

History

Andoan White was served in Oga's Cantina (pictured).

During the time of the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a cantina located in the Black Spire Outpost settlement on the Outer Rim planet Batuu imported the alcoholic beverage from Ando to serve to its customers. In 19 BBY, the cantina's bartender, named Janott, presented Andoan White, among other drink options, to the human Senator Padmé Amidala when she visited the establishment. After Amidala selected Andoan White, Janott poured a small amount of the wine, a few centimeters, into an obsidian mug for her, charging her five credits. As she sampled the wine, Janott asked if she liked it, to which the senator responded positively. Subsequently, Amidala ordered a second serving of Andoan White while composing a funerary song on her datapad for her deceased former handmaiden, Duja. After spending half an hour slowly drinking the wine, she finished it and departed from the cantina.

Andoan was served at Cid's Parlor on Ord Mantell after the end of the Clone Wars.

Not long after the Clone Wars ended in 19 BBY, Andoan was one of the beverages that could be found at the Cid's Parlor establishment, situated in Ord Mantell City on the planet Ord Mantell. During that same year, it was also stored in a wine cabinet located inside the residence of Avi Singh, a former senator, on the planet Raxus Secundus. It was also available at the 79's cantina on the planet Coruscant. Andoan White continued to be an offering at the Batuu cantina, which was renamed Oga's Cantina in honor of its new owner, Oga Garra, a Blutopian, around 14 BBY. In 34 ABY, Throno briefly described the wine's qualities in comparison to other beverages currently offered at the establishment in his Batuu guidebook, Traveler's Guide to Batuu, authored by him, and recommended Oga's Cantina as a place to visit for Batuu newcomers.

Andoan White made its debut in the 2018 novel titled Thrawn: Alliances, which was penned by Timothy Zahn. On February 28, 2019, it was announced that the wine would be among the dining options available at the real-world Oga's Cantina bar in the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. However, the drink was not included on the menu when the land opened on May 31 of that year.

Andoan White was first shown visually in "Rampage," the fifth episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an animated television series, which was broadcast on May 28, 2021. Chris Madden, an artist at Lucasfilm Animation, created a concept-art illustration of the beverage's bottle design for the episode on August 16, 2019, labeling it as "Bottle E."
